"Accessing iTunes Store" message stuck...

I just installed the upgrade via Software Update and since... whenever I start iTunes it immediately gives a pop-up window stating 'Accessing iTunes Store' and is seemingly stuck. If I hit cancelled, the 'Canceling' message just gets stuck. On top of all this, I am unable to use iTunes and play any of my media as these stuck messages completely renders iTunes dead. What can I do?

I am having a similar issue after upgrading to 10.2.0.34 tonight. I can browse and download, but the "Accessing iTunes Store.." message keeps popping up every few seconds. I have good network connectivity and ran the iTunes diagnostic as well. Is this a bug in the new version, or is the iTunes store having connectivity problems?

Hello

This problem is due to lock UDP port 5353

iTunes Program uses UDP port 5353 to access the App store and the Bonjour program came with the iTunes package is responsible to opening the UDP port 5353 .

Perhaps the Bonjour program is disable and this happens when installing programs, proxies and networks.

Review the latest software installed on your computer programs specifically related to networks and protection programs.

If you are using Internet accelerators such as the Propel Accelerator .. delete it immediately and then restart the system and try to enter iTunes Store.

This is the fix to the problem,

Good luck to you,

Abdullah

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I spent hours on this.

When I tried to go to the itunes store, it would lock up and my internet connection would no longer work unless I rebooted. I tried every thing I've seen, proxy unchecked, winsock reset, flush, reinstall itunes, reinstall IE...

In my case, the guilty culprit was a video/graphics driver. I figured it out because the itunes store would have little white lines occasionally flickering.

I updated the driver and itunes store now works.

I got the best problem -- lol -- Accessing Itunes Store -- all the time and tying to syn ipod

uninstalled itunes -- 3 times! and still get same messages as above -- left computer on all day -

I read on some thread different options -- try running itunes in safe mood - did that - nothing changed...

did some other tests see if its my laptop - everything is fine --

so Apple what do you have to say for yourself ?? I am ready to send this nano ipod 8g back to you and get my airmiles points back!

I also got the issue when I installed the ITunes (64-Bit) 10.6.0.40 in Windows 7.

I could rectify it also.

The steps I did was

1) Used FIXIT from windows to fix the HOST file in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

Please refer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034 for details

2) Open command prompt (Right click the icon and use Run as Administrator) and trpe this command

netsh winsock reset

3) Restart the computer and check. Most probably it will work.

4) If that doesn't solve please check these also if all the settings are correct or not.

and i dont have the option choice when i right click on icon and Run as Administator) ...

that was a good idea -- but .. seeing as i dont have the choice Run as Administrator..

won't work either ..

lol - o well .. .

It should not be this hard - to accessing a itunes store.. or maybe it's suppose to be?? LOL

Hi,

1) The FIXIT has to be downlaoded for Microsoft Support. It will automaticlly fix the host file present in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

Please download and install that small utility.

2) In this step you need to opne Command prompt in Administrator mode. So goto
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt (Please right click the icon and find the use "Run as Administrator). And use the command netsh winsock reset

Please find the screenshot below of opening command prompt

BIG SMILE --

I need to thank you --- for your suggestion ...

I got a bunch of email suggestions -- but none of them worked..

As I was floundering my way through -- you did send me this suggestion earlier ..

but it seemed I missed the 2nd part --

it works like a charm now --

You are a genius 🙂 thank you --

My apologies if my posts were "frantic" but I was losing my mind that I couldn't access the itunes store.

I am having this same problem as well and am unable to get a fix. It started randomly a few weeks ago and I have not been able to get the iTunes Store or iTunes Match working since. It is incredibly frustrating.

Apple - please help identify a fix!

If it helps, I cannot access the Bonjour service due to IT restrictions but have never had an issue in the past.

James, the link you provided worked a charm - I'd tried everything else on this thread but downloading the Auto run app and seeing what was clashing with Bonjour fixed everything (I just cancelled the clashing programme as I didn't use it anyway).

Anyone still struggling try http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123 and hopefully this will work - it sorted everything out for me.

A huge thanks to James_SE10 from me!
