Ipod will not register and will not sync.

I've had this ipod nano (2nd gen) for almost 4 years and never had a problem with it until now. iTunes recognizes my device and everything but when I go to sync it, the option to sync (from the file tab) is greyed out and I can't click it. All the songs are checked in my library and it still won't do it. Then I read something about the summary tab which I can't get to because it is saying I never registered my ipod (I could have sworn I did though). So I went to register it and I filled out all the fields and it keeps saying "you must complete the entire form". I'm not an idiot, I looked over this thing for like 15 minutes now and EVERY field is filled out and everything is checked. I've tried resetting my ipod, my computer, I have the most recent updated version of itunes. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Mac, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

I also had this problem with a 6th gen nano. I did register it on apple.com, but iTunes still prompted me to register. I chose the register later option and it let me through, but then when I tried to sync for the first time, iTunes would freeze almost immediately and then my computer would crash. I ended up unistalling and reinstalling iTunes altogether.

After that, iTunes did not show the device so I had to restart the iPod service. (windows 7 - Control Panel; System & Security; Administrative Tools; Services; iPod service). Make sure the iPod is disconnected from the computer, then stop the service, reconnect the iPod, then start the service again. After I did that, it showed up in iTunes and miraculously, it synced w/ no problem.
Oh...and it let me register! No more "You must complete the entire form" message!! User uploaded file

I hope this helps!

Ipod will not register and will not sync.
