Is the Screen Size of the iPad 2 the same as the iPad ?

The screen size for both the orginal and the new version are given as being 9.7 inches diagonally, with the same number of pixels (1024 by 768) at 132 pixels per inch - so it looks like they are exactly the same size.

For the purpose of a screen protector, the size is not the same. I say this only because at least one of the major players, ZAGG, sells a different screen protector for the new iPad. I do not know how significant the difference is.

Makes sense. Perhaps a paper hole punch will "fix" an old protector?

Overall the height of the iPad 2 is 1.6mm shorter and the width is 4mm less. The Zagg shield that I got for mine covers the entire front, not just the screen part, so as well as the camera hole I assume that the new cover is slighter shorter and narrower.

So, if the OP has a hole punch AND is good with an Exacto knife, the problem can be solved!

I don't use screen protectors but, if I did, I'd spring for a new one.

The email that I got from Zagg is that they are taking preorders for the new iPad's invisibleSHIELD, so that tells me that it is different enough that Zagg is doing a whole new product that is now in production with no date of availability.

I know that I want to protect the back definitely, but I am undecided about the display. That is a large expanse to apply the shield and get it without a single loose hair or some dust. Air bubbles I am OK with because I have applied a number of Zagg shields to iPods and iPhones and they all are bubble free.
