iOS 4.3 has cut my 3G Internet connection

"Safari cannot open this page because you are not connected to the Internet."

When I am around my WIFI, I am.

Took me half an hour until it was back. Weird...

Mac OS X (10.6.6), Please don't tell me anything as useful as "re-format your hard drive" o.a.l.t.

Having the same problem of completely erratic behavior in Greece (3G provider COSMOTE) after a 4.3 upgrade, I went through 4 restores of my iPad 1 Wifi+3G, a few calls to Apple support (where it was established that they have never heard of such a problem), and a few calls to the provider, but nobody was really able to help. The turn-on WiFi, load a page, turn-on 3G, turn-off WiFi trick worked, but what's the point of connecting thru 3G if WiFi is available? It seems that the randomness of the whole behavior cannot offer a sure fire solution, but the thing that currently works for me is when 3G eventually fails to connect, I change the User name in APN settings to any random string, and some how this goes thru the system. Of course according to the provider this shouldn't happen, but I have witnessed it! The only question that I want to ask is if anybody knows whether Apple is acknowledging and working on the problem.

After upgrading to iOS 4.3 my Internet connection on 3G was erratic. Having gone through the forums, I did these simple steps and now have my 3G connection and Internet access all the time.
1) Turn airplane mode to off
2) Turn cellular data to on
3) Change the APN settings ( mine was showing maxisbb. I changed it to maxis)
I was able to connect to the Internet after this.
The next time around I changed the APN settings from maxis to maxisbb and it worked again.
I have tried this method many times and it seems to work all the time. Each time I don't change the APN setting, the Internet connection is not there, even though the 3G service shows 5 bars.
The problem seems to center around the APN setting. I maybe wrong.

That's right. The problem lies with the APN settings. It works even if I change only one alphabet in the APN settings. I've doing this the whole day just to be sure, and it works every time. No more errors from safari. Hope Apple gets a clue as to the actual problem and rectifies it as soon as possible with an update. Thanks Ckheng99 for your initial pointer in the right direction. Can Maxis do something here?

I don't use airplane mode, but I get the same problem each time I turn off wifi and turn on 3G.

Sometimes turning off Safari or Mail (the apps that fail to connect for me) from the open applications bar works for me.
More often than not, I have to resort to powering off the device, as in your case.

Althing, please try changing the APN settings. Even if there is nothing in the APN settings you can add some characters to verify if this works. It is working for me all the time. I have not got any error messages so far.
This seems to be an easy solution than trying to get a wifi access first and then 3G. Try the APN solution and let us know if that works for you.

Hi,

I'm in France and I tried the solution below
1) Turn airplane mode to off
2) Turn cellular data to on
3) Change the APN settings ( mine was showing maxisbb. I changed it to maxis)
I was able to connect to the Internet after this but only for a few sceonds and the the same mesage again, perhaps because I have no WI FI access.
The only way I found to access internet is to share my iPhone's 3G connection with my Ipad...

Hope apple will fix the bugg ASAP
