4.3 Flicker Problem

My ATV2 had been working great until I installed 4.3 today. Now every couple of second there is a very annoying flicker on the screen. I have a 1080i TV. Any suggestions? Any way to go back to 4.2?

Latest experiment, based on speculation that the wake event could be causing the flicker, was to turn off automatic sleep and screensaver and leave it running for 24 hours.

Tonight there was no flicker. Watched about 4 hours of various content and no flicker was present at any time nor did it develop over the course of the session. I'll be continuing the experiment to see if it holds. If it does, and other users corroborate it, the theory will gain merit. If you've still got flicker, please try this experiment.

Still not flickering for me in second day of always-on experiment. I'll continue it for a day or two, then enable the screensaver and let the screensaver run overnight. If it doesn't flicker despite the activation of the screensaver, then we can rule out the screensaver as the source of the trouble and this will bolster my theory that it's the wake event that causes the issue. It's not likely that it's the screensaver, but being unable to run the source code to see what it's doing, it's the only analysis that I can do. I still like the idea of something happening during the wake event. It's logical to me.

Of course it's HDMI handshake. I'm only observing when I see the flicker to try to determine the point at which it occurs.

This is a theory. What I have observed is that my usual pattern, that of sleeping it at the end of the night and waking it the next day, reliably (but not always) produced flicker. My always-on experiment eliminates the sleep/wake cycle variable and for two days I have not seen any flicker. Therefore, potentially (but needs to be borne out by more extensive testing), something occurs on or after the wake operation that upsets the HDMI handshake and causes the flicker.

Hello, I would like to jump in as I have run the update after experiencing the flicker as everyone else has. I have an Apple TV hooked to a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500. This is a Japanese model as that's where I live. Anyway, I set the RGB on low and the flicker went away. After udating however it still flickers and while trying to watch some podcasts same. I am now trying to watch a movie that I downloaded and not only does it flicker it sometimes freezes completely. I'm going to see if I can update the firmware on the TV but it is not good so far. It seems to begin after about 10 minutes or so. Right now it is running fine after I set the RGB back to auto. I will try the suggestion above about shutting off the auto sleep. Even with the trouble it is still pretty cool that you can stream video to your TV.

My theory of the flickering occurring at the time of wake is bust. For the past three days, despite leaving it on, every night that I've fired up the TV, the Apple TV has been flickering. On all three occasions, I've had to restart twice, then power cycle in order to get it to stop. Last night I had to restart it again after the power cycle.

I'm getting disillusioned by this. Why does this have to be so hard, especially as this issue never occurred with Apple's previous incarnation of the Apple TV?
