HelveticaNeue-Roman was substituted for missing font HelveticaNeue

Why do I get this message whenever I open a document in Numbers? I have already deleted the HelveticaNeue font in System/Library/Fonts to address a corrupted font but that didn't help.

Does anyone have a clue why this is happening? I believe the problem began with Snow Leopard.

Deleting the font only from the /System/Library/Fonts/ folder also won't help as the OS will put a new copy right back. Check the folder and you should see it there again.

It goes back further than that. Leopard introduced protected fonts.
