iTunes Freezing and not Syncing after 10.2/10.2.1 and iOS 4.3 update

My iOS 4.2 was syncing fine, but after upgrading itunes and upgrading the iOS software on my iPhone4 and iPad, all syncing breaks. iTunes freezes when trying to sync and remains frozen for about 5 min after which it works fine but neither the iPhone nor the iPad is detected and synced.

Checking logs I see errors like

I already tried a full clean install of itunes + other apple software.
Also tried changing USB ports, that allowed a sync for once then started freezing again.

I have had a frustrating two days with this issue on my 32-bit Vista machine, after the latest update to iTunes 10.2.1. It would freeze as soon as I connected my iphone 3g, and unfreeze immediately if I disconnected it, or after a few minutes. In neither case was the iphone seen by iTunes. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes made no difference.

I finally fixed it when I set the iTunes.exe to XP SP2 compatibility mode. This then worked perfectly without any more issues.

I have a similar very annoying problem. My iPhone 4 (with iOS 4.3) syncs just fine, but my old iPhone 2G (with 3.1.3, which I rarely sync) does not seem to sync -- iTunes (10.2.1.1, x64 version on Vista Ultimate x64) hangs (freezes) as soon as the device is connected, and unfreezes when I disconnect it. Notice that I had already restored as new the iPhone 2 last month just in case.

Thanks Mike. I've been pulling my hair out trying to fix this problem with my iPod Touch which was updated to 4.3 a few days ago. Now I can use my Touch again.

Its interesting that I get the freezing problem with iTunes on my desktop (running 64-bit Windows 7), but don't get it on my Netbook (running 32-bit Windows 7) and both are updated to Win7 SP 1.

Cheers
Tony

This is my problem exactly. I can sync my iPod touch (4th gen) with no problems. However, iTunes freezes every time I try to sync my iPhone 3GS. I am running Windows 7 SP1, and this happens no matter if iTunes is running in any sort of compatibility mode or not (I've tried most of them).

"How to set iTune to Windows XP SP2"

Right click the iTunes.exe , go to the setting tab.

But it still doesn't work me. I think the above Exception has some wrong doings by the new versio of iTune.

After exhausting the options given here, Just wondering Apple can list out earlier version of iTune for download.

Need iTune 9 to go.
