@Serge Vann
this morning i where in a Mobistar Store, and they told me, that this is a Problem with my iPhone, i called the Hotline, and thye told me the same. Then i tried to contact the Apple Support, but they don't give Phone Support for iPhone users in Belgium...
I know well that it is the Problem of Mobistar, so i changed my SIM card to a Proximus SIM, and after that, i tried a german Vodafone SIM but there are still no settings available to enable "Personal Hotspot".
How can i enable now this feature, if i change my carrier?

My iPhone was never jailbroken, if that has something to say...

Maybe you can help me.

I updated my iPhone4 to iOS 4.3.1. I then called AT&T to set up personal hotspot on the iphone 4. They set it up in about 5 min. Package went from 200mb package to 4GB package. The actual increase on my bill will be $30, you get your original package credit. You can use the 4GB of data any way you want, all on the phone, tethered to any other wifi or bluetooth device, or a combination of both, it doesn't matter. Set Up: The set up from there was simple. Turned on Personal Hot Spot on the iPhone 4, set a wifi password, done. Turned on the iPad 2, it immediately picked up the wifi from iPhone 4, typed in the wifi password, done. It was as simple as that. It worked for everything, iPhone 4 to iPhone 4, to iPad 2, to two Dell laptops, and two 4th. Gen. iPods. Hope this helps, Good Luck

I've just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3.2 and just figured out how to enable the Personal Hotspot if it doesn't show in Settings.

Firstly, go to Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data Network then fill in everything under >Internet Tethering.

Once you're done, go back to the previous page and you will see Personal Hotspot.

Hope this would help =)

If you do this without having a tethering add-on on your account, you're subject to having it mandatorily added, and also being backcharged. Follow this advice with caution.

The only way it works is to have the carrier (ATT for example) set it up for you. You have to have an iPhone 4 and a limited data package (2G a month for example). So, if you are a longstanding client with an unlimited data plan, you can use it. I just got off the phone with ATT who told me this as I was trying to use it for my iPad wifi. I guess only movies now for me since I can't get wifi....

Enabling Personal Hotspot for 1st Time

  1. Click on Setting > General > Network
  2. The items available are Enable 3G, Cellular Data, VPN and Wi-Fi. If Cellular Data is OFF, you won't be able to see Personal Hotspot option.
  3. Turn Cellular Data ON and the Personal Hotspot item will be displayed and status show as Off

  4. Open Personal Hotspot item.
  5. Change your Password and turn Personal Hotspot ON and you're good to go. I tried with iPhone3 but only Bluetooth and USB options are available and if you on iPhone4, additional Wi-Fi option is available (correct me if I am wrong 🙂)
  6. iPhone will displays numbers of active connection to your Personal Hotspot, hence you can ensure only you accessing thru it.User uploaded file

Fyi, Cellular Data is turned ON, Personal Hotspot option will be available on Main Setting.

Hope this help 🙂

p.s. I am using iPhone4 running on 4.3.3

I also have an Iphone 4 - updated, I have looked under General, settings, but there is no option for personal hotspot - I am afraid to reset Network settings (as suggested byNomaniSM) , as this will probably delete all my current O2 settings?? (new to this).

All I want is to be to use my current O2 to tether to my new Ipad 2 - can this be done without resetting as I feel this would delete all my current O2 information - I had to enter all the info manually when I first got my IPhone as it wouldn't do it automatically (I am on Giff Gaff - by 02) - in the UK

any help would be appreciated to a newbie - Thanks
