ios 4.3 for 3g

Dear Apple,

Following the reviews of the new IOS 4.3 release I was absolutely baffled that Apple is leaving a major segment of their customers vulnerable to security issues in the iPhone. Various security issues have been identified on IOS 4.2 and lower. Some of them in Safari. Yet iPhone 3G users are not offered security updates as they are encapsulated in IOS 4.3 release.

I feel that Apple has an obligation to at least keep supporting previous generation of the product for at least 5 years after EOL of a product in terms of providing security patches when major security leaks have been identified.

I would like to ask fellow 3G users to react to Apple too so this issue will appear on Apple's management radar screen!

Welcome to the "World of Insecurity" in iPhone 3G and earlier and later models. For example: http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2012-3728

What do you think about this situation ? ...

Sincerely.

No computing device is perfectly secure. The issue is not whether there are vulnerabilities, but rather how likely it is that a given vulnerability can be exploited in a way that could affect a given user. In the case of this particular vulnerability, unless you're running a jailbroken iPhone or getting apps via Ad-Hoc distribution or otherwise bypassing the iTunes Store, this vulnerability is unlikely to have any effect since it would require the malicious developer to be able to slip the exploit past the iTunes Store's filtering system.

This is not the case with Android devices where malicious applications can easily make it even into Google's own store, and have done so on numerous occasions. So the risk of malware making it onto an Android phone is higher than it would be with an iPhone, though no one can say that any iPhone is perfectly secure.

Regards.

Dear roaminggnome,

To your knowledge and better understanding of this problem for the all users of iPhone 3G, this discussion began for "manzanas123" the "11-Mar-2011 15:20".

Additionally, in some countries of the world outside the U.S. the iPhone 3G was sold by mobile operators until late of the year 2009 and early 2010.

Do you understand ? ...

It seems that you do not drive enough information to the discussion in question.

Please learn and place yourself in the shoes of others.

Sincerely.

Dear varjak paw,

Based on your answer, it seems that you do not have solid technical foundation (Q&A, SDLC, Risk, Threat, Vulnerability) and seems justify the problems of Apple with the problems of others. Apple is not equal to the other companies.

"Misery loves company" or "Two in distress makes sorrow less" ? ...

Also shows that you do not know about information security vulnerabilities and exposures. Please find out more about it on: http://cve.mitre.org/

Sincerely and respectfully.

Worry more about what you say than what I say.

"Additionally, in some countries of the world outside the U.S. the iPhone 3G was sold by mobile operators until late of the year 2009 and early 2010."

I wasn;t talking about when you bought it. I was talking about when it was released.

The 3g model is more than three years old.

If you buy 2008 car in 20010, it is still a 2008 car. it is not a newer model just becuase you biught later.

Maybe you should think before you post nonsense.
