iPad 2 HDMI A/V adapter doesn't work on my tv
Anyone experiencing this?
I imagine that a lot of TVs simply aren't going to like to see 1024x768 over HDMI connections. Wish Apple had considered that.

Hi all,
i also have a problem with sounds when I connect my new ipad toHDTV there is no sounds comming out. Please help
Hi --I haven't posted on this topic for a while, but did have the same problem with the HDMI A/V adaptor that many others describe.
There are some very good replies worth reading. Best guess - not all HDMI is created equal, both in terms of the TV sets themselves & the HDMI cables. So a problem with standardization apparently.
Although I resisted it for quite a while, I finally broke down & bought and Apple TV unit for $99.00 It solved the problem and as noted in several of the previous posts, also does a lot of other cool things. So on balance, I'm happy with the purchase.
Hope that helps. The "HDMI wizards", with their upgrades, updates & different versions, certainly aren't!
Good luck, Greg LaGana
Thank you thank you thank you, G-Whizz. Your solution worked like a charm.
1. Push HDMI plug in firmly; pull it out and plug it back a few times to clean contacts
2. Make sure you select the correct HDMI input on TV e.g. HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3
Try reversing the HDMI cable itself. It sounds stupid but some HDMI cables are unidirectional. ;-)
I have my iPad connected to the Apple 30-pin AV adapter where I plugged in my hdmi cable. I can see my iPad screen on my TV fine. The problem is that only Netflix takes up the whole TV screen. If I want to watch YouTube videos or Internet TV, the image does not expand as with Netflix.
My wife has an Acer tablet which, when plugged into the TV through an hdmi cable, does fill up the TV screen at any time.
I spoke to Apple Support and they told me that currently the Apple devices (iPad and iPhone) will not do what the other tablet does.
Pity.
I will probably return the adapter to the Apple store.
omg I tried everything and this worked!!!!!!
I have the same issue with my iPad. The cdmi cable and adapter were working with both my iPad and my iPhone, but it no longer works in the iPad. I do not understand, unless something happened internally with the connection inside the iPad.
I have the same problem. Did you find a solution?
It worked! Thanks!

Perhaps you would be so kind as to describe what worked so others can try it.
Dude! This totally fixed the problem and now it works! Thanks!
I just fixed exactly this problem by rebooting iPad with tv conncted and on throughout. I know it's the helpdesk joke answer but I'd tried everything else with no luck but this worked!
If your tv has vga input for computer you should be able to display your iPad onto the tv screen to get sound you have to plug the iPads headphones output into the vga input on the tv
