Audio problems with iPhone after iOS 4.3 update - Bug in iOS 4.3

After updating my iPhone to iOS 4.3, certain iPhone apps that use audio, such as Bloom, Euphonics and others, started having problems with audio: some extremely annoying, frequent audible clicks (when the audio is played trough the speaker or headphones). The Apple iPod app for iPhone seems unaffected by this iOS 4.3 bug.

Is this a known bug in iOS 4.3? Or is it a known compatibility break?

A friend of mine has experienced this problem too after the iOS 4.3 update.

If this is a known bug in iOS 4.3, can this be fixed as soon as possible, as the affected audio apps are effectively unusable due to this annoying problem?

I have the same problem. I've noticed the issue in TomTom USA and when playing videos from safari. Audio is on and turned all the way up, but there's no sound.

I have the same issue. Some apps work perfectly while others (Meteor Blitz, Virtuoso Piano) have an aggravating click distortion whether played through headphones or speakers. These apps have never had a problem before, and the only thing I can think of is the upgrade to iOS 4.3. Now they are unbearable to use.

I made an appointment with the Apple store, and the Genius rep couldn't help because these are third party apps. Otherwise, he said, the phone was in perfect working order. No ringtones or native Apple sounds have the distortion. His suggestion was to contact the developers.

After more research it appears that Apple changed the way audio is processed. The app developer for Hohner Squeezebox wrote:

"Looks like Apple changed some low level OpenAL audio behavior in the iOS 4.3 update which was released today.

There seems to be an issue in many of my apps that have rapid note switching with audio pops and clicks that weren't there on iOS 4.2 or any previous release."

That developer appears to have found a fix for his app, and hopefully others can as well.

Running across this same issue on Pocket Legends. Developers have been contacted.

Probably "functioning as designed" or some-such, I imagine.

We're having the same problem in development with one of our OpenAL apps. Has anyone come across a solution?
