Tethering iPad to Cellphone via Bluetooth PAN keep disconnecting

Add me to the list: tried, was surprised it worked, was irritated when I found the connection wouldn't last.

I've been digging around in the Internet Connection and Bluetooth settings looking for something that might be the cause of this, but so far no luck.

I have WMWifiRouter, a really nice Windows Mobile app that that will let me share my connection via WiFi, but it's very hard on my phone's battery. Bluetooth uses so much less power, I was hoping to switch to this option.

looks like i'm not the only one facing this problem. I'm using HTC Touch with WM 6.1 and my Ipad always ends the connection. I don't have any problem using the Bluetooth PAN on my laptops though.

Hi, I'm experiencing this problem with my sister's iPad 2 and iPaq Glisten (Windows Mobile 6.5). I would start the "Internet Sharing" application on the iPaq which creates the PAN and the iPad happily connects to it. The internet connection would work for about 20 seconds or so, but then it disconnects.

At first I thought it was because she didn't have tethering on her account, but I tried the connection on my laptop and it worked; no disconnects. The PAN is a supported profile according to this list: support.apple.com/kb/ht3647. However, the description for it suggests Apple only intented it to work for iPhones. (Can anyone confirm this?)

I installed WMWiFiRouterand it's working well so far.

I'm glad to read that I'm not the only one. A college of mine just got an iPad 2 WiFi-only and used his Samsung SGH i900 mobile phone with Windows Mobile 6.1 and Bluetooth to connect to the internet and was asking me what is wrong because it keeps disconnecting after 20 to 30 seconds.

I told him: "either it works, or it doesn't." Apparently I was wrong. Sometimes things can work "a little". Finding this topic explains alot... He is now also getting this WMWiFiRouter software for his mobile phone, thou a final bluetooth solution is very desirable.

So, add me to the list.

One more here. Just bought me a Wifi-only iPad. Connecting over Bluetooth PAN on my HTC ONE TOUCH win mob 6.5. Disconnects after 30 seconds. If anybody has found the solution, I'd love to hear it.

I check it with every OS patch, and so far no luck. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will work in iOS 5.

Tried iOS5 iPad with Windows Mobile 6.1 today and have the same disconnecting problem as others here...

Having the same problem here. WM6.1 phone, BT Internet Sharing....works for 20 secs, then disconnects. I've used it before with BT PAN on a MacBook no problem.

Anyone find a solution?

I've looked through every google search on this I can think of.....

well to tell the truth it will not work on ios5... i have it and does not want to tether nothing or to anything

Well, I haven't tried anything else bluetooth, but wifi with my gf's iPhone works.

iPad 1st gen running iOS 5.1.1 tethered by WinMo 6.1, having the same issue.

iPad 1st gen running iOS 5.1.1 tethered by Nokia S40, working well.
