Fixed my phone. Found a copy online of the 4.3 software. I manually restored it to that file and my phone is not working. I lost everything that I hadn't backed up but still happy to have my phone again! Can email file, but I closed out of the link
I'm in the same boat. Tragically enough, I had actually volunteered to help out at a big event tonight at SXSWi, which required using a sponsor's app on my iPhone all night. Instead of helping out, I had to leave to come home and figure out why neither my iPhone nor my wife's iPhone were no longer working. I suspected it was the beta OS, as I've been on the road until a couple of days ago and hadn't had a chance to update them to the GM release, but I wasn't expecting to be dead in the water like this.
Note to Apple: Please don't set your OS beta releases to expire in the middle of March, when the largest gathering of your users is taking place at SXSWi. Makes for mighty ****** off developers and, I suspect, some nice fodder for anti-Apple press. And if you do, please make sure that iTunes or XCode can take care of updating them without any hassle. Please.
@Yamomo: I tried to download the ipsw 4.3_8F190 and option clicked to restore the iPhone from it... started restoring but then it gave a 1013 error and crashed.
Thanks to everyone for those solutions, I will try them out. And to maczter, that is unfortunate. SXSWi is a big deal and of course this would happen at the most inconvenient time possible. This issue has happened several times before and I think that it’s very sloppy for them to miss such an issue more than once.
If you receive error when trying to update to 4.3 and you have 4.3 GM seed installed you have to remove your device from provisioning on apple dev page and then try to restore to the new final version. I just did this and it worked for me.
Thanks Slarkis, I have just set to restore and got no message (didn't have to deregister at the developer site) and it is now updating all the apps nicely.
Great work guys! It is a pity Apple couldn't work things a bit better. I'm sure none of us became developers just to be stuffed around.
Hi Everybody, I just got my iPhone to restore after a 3 hr struggle, what worked for me was downloading the final version of XCode 4 (had the last Beta on before). After it was installed iTunes itself could do the restore for me (Organizer was having trouble seeing my phone connected). Am currently restoring all my settings from a backup from noon today (Thank god I sync often).
np, i was at work and my phone stopped working so i was pretty mad .. had to figure it out when i got home and i knew it wouldn't be anywhere posted yet so im glad it was a nice find and that i could help others as well
What is the easiest way to remove your phone from provisioning? My phone is included in a multiple provisioning profiles, is there some kind of option that can take the iPhone out of all of them at once?
Sorry, might be a dumb question but I just don't know.
Once downloaded, open iTunes, click on your Phone, then hold down the Option key and click Restore. Choose the file you downloaded above and you're good to go. Good luck!
Drew
PS: It would be really nice to have a direct link in the iOS Dev Center for the various firmware. Am I just missing it somewhere?
