"share a public ip address"

Hey everyone

Recently I tried, foolishly I might add, to change my airport settings from "share a public IP address" to "distribute a range of ip addresses". I lost my internet connection obviously, so I wanted to change it back. Unfortunately, when I try to change it back I get a message saying "The DHCP range you have entered conflicts with the wan ip address of your airport wireless device", and no matter what range I specify I still get the same message. (I try to share a range between 10.0.0.100 - 10.0.0.200. Airport has the ip 10.0.0.5)
I put it in bridge mode as for now (so I can have internet at all) and it seemed to work fine. However, my topcom router seems to do a terrible job as a dhcp server in that it occasionally freezes up or sometimes perhaps gives out conflicting ip addresses so I loose internet connection (this especially happens when I fire up a torrent client, or someone is using xbox live).
So, I'd like to set up my airport to do the ip distribution like it did before. I have tried so many things to overcome the dhcp range conflict without success.. and frankly, I don't see how there is any conflict at all.
Perhaps a run down of how I think it's set up at the moment is in order:
Topcom router receives an ip address from our service provider (85.165.xxx.x)
It is set to have an ip address of 10.0.0.1 and shares an ip range from 10.0.0.2 -10.0.0.254
The airport device has received an ip of 10.0.0.5 and currently stands in bridge mode.
I'd like to set it up, as mentioned earlier, back to how it was before I tried to make that stupid change from "Share a public IP address" to "distribute a range of ip addresses".
Now, why wont it let me distribute a range between 10.0.0.10 for example, to 10.0.0.254?

Oh, and I haven't made any changes in my topcom router, so the problem should be fixable just by noodling in the airport utility. Something tells me though, that it probably wont be that simple.

Unfortunately, you will need to "hard reset" your AirPort Express to clear out the old and conflicting settings on the device.

To do that, hold in the reset button until the amber light begins to blink more quickly and keep holding another 4-5 seconds when this occurs, then release the reset button and the AirPort Express will restart. You should have a slow blinking amber light after 40-45 seconds. That is your signal that the Express can be reconfigured as you had it originally.

Since you are effectively trying to run two routers, both handling DHCP on your network, you may need to keep an eye on things. Even if you avoid the IP address conflicts, you will have to deal with a Double NAT error on your network, which can slow communications between devices (and the Internet).
