When I try to connect to the cellular data it just says iPad or Searching in the top of the screen. It did work last night. If I do a hard reset I can get it to work. Switching Airplane mode on and off to reset the modem does NOT work. Anyone have any ideas?
FWIW, I spoke to Verizon tech support last evening about the same problem. Had to go up about three levels before I reached someone that acknowledged that the constant roaming indication is a bug that they presently have no solution for. They had me reset my device but that did nothing. The workaround is to turn on data roaming which they claim is free anyway as long as you are in the US. That works for me for the near term but expect V to comeup with a solution. No timetable was discssed.
I have a Verizon 3G ipad2. The 3 G seems to work correctly. however, when I try to view the Verizon account, I receive a message that says "Your iPad is already active on a subscription that cannot be managed with this device". I've spoken with three different people who gave different answers with no resolution. the last one said that the iPad was registered with an email address that was used to register our iPhone and that the iPad would have to be re registered with a different email. Can some one explain if this is correct or why two devices can't have the same email?
Ethynol's fix worked perfectly, and probably saved me hours of working with tech support! Anyone having this problem should check their PRL number and try his method before replacing your iPad or anything else drastic. The backup/restore process is smooth, just do it before you load up a ton of movies and apps to save yourself some time. 😀
Thank you Ethynol. I wanted to mark your message "helpful," but don't see a link or button to do so. First post ever and I'm on my phone, though. I will try again from the office with a desktop browser.
Same problem, at apple store knox in Dallas, no answer, on phone at apple store with Verizon, no answer, they are calling apple. Been at apple store 50 mins. This ***.
The PRL issue is something else all together. I have been back and forth with apple and Verizon so far they are blaming each other.
Unfortunately we all paid for a 3G iPad and so far we are not getting what we paid for. I wonder if a recall is in order or an even switch to the AT&T model. Since the 14 day return is over apple should do something.
Same issue here. Multiple reboots to get 3G back on. Also during this time wifi won't connect and sometimes won't even see the available networks until a reboot. I had to reboot twice just now so I came to this forum to figure out what's up. And ANOTHER thing, [working from my ipad 2] I had to switch to Skyfire browser to create my account here; Safari just kept looping the setup page. That's an embarrassment.
64GB white Verizon
And no, the PRL fix does not apply to my situation but thanks and I'm happy for those who found it useful.
I got mine at Verizon so i will go there tomorrow and officially report the issue.
This is simply the pains of being fortunate enough to be an early adopter.
I chatted with a verizon tech, and they said it's simply an issue of the PRL codes int he ipads not syncing up correctly with the towers, and that turning "data roaming on" is the only fix currently, and that it should be addressed as soon as a maintenance iOS update is released which will update the tower codes in the ipad.
Only way to get mine to work is to turn off the device with the 3G radio turned on. If I turn off my device with the 3G radio off and then turn it on after it comes up I get no connection.
As long as the 3G radio is on when I turn it off it comes up clean every time. Well at least every time I have tested it, just got mine 2 days ago.
Does anyone know if apple would exchange my Verizon for a ATT model?
Actually I asked that question and apple said if it been more then 14 days no they will not. If it's less you can do a return and exchange if one is in stock.
