Mac App Store Crashes

Open /Applications/Utilities/Termial.app and type those commands in to your shell. sudo will ask you for your administrative password. And congratulations. You just ran your first command on the UNIX command line interface (CLI). 😎

Nothing happens in the terminal window after entering the command. But wouldn't my spotlight be enabled if the search icon is visable?

What are your thoughts on adding external hard drives to the spotlight privacy utility?

I've tried every "fix" for my mac store hangs issue: removing the plst, apple.com, (store. agent whatever the ****) files etc, Added external hard drives to the privacy spot light search, extracted and re installed the app store app from 10.6.6. and 10.6.7 using Pacisfist. Nothing has worked. I refuse to reinstall OS X. It's less painful not being able to download apps. But if someone has an idea that will work, PLEASE bring it on!

thanks it also worked for me....also check this .....i had not installed os lion..but still it showing ...installed...

I have a Mac running on 10.6.8. The App Store is shown on the dock and on the drop down menu. However, it never opens and always crashes with the words - the Apple Store qut unexpectedly. I have tried some of the suggestions in this thread but nothing works. Ideally, I'd like to move to Lion and want to purchase that though the App store. Is there a simple fix for this? I'm not in the least technical - so please reply in smple English! Thanks

Try selecting Appstore in your applications folder.

Press Command I to get info.

When info opens check the "startup in 32 bit mode" box.

Then try opening Appstore again.

This worked for me.

I know this was posted years ago but it helped me today, in 2016. Great advice!
