Storeagent process - What is it?

Hi

Please could someone clarify what the Storeagent process does?

I noticed today it was sending 1MB p/s out of my broadband connection ...

I know it's linked with the App Store, however I wasn't downloading anything from the App Store.

Ditto - I had an iMovie update fail the other day, and today it seems to be trying to download it despite the fact that I declined to re-download it. I have the feeling I'm going to get iMovie whether I want it or not (actually not). The storeupdate process is plugging away using the CPU despite the fact that I'm in offline mode with no network connection.

I don't have iMovie, so I think Apple is "calling home" whenever there is an Internet connection to send information on what apps are installed on my Mac.

Little Snitch warned that storeagent wants to connect to *.itunes.apple.com, and I don't even have an iPhone or iPad.
