iPhone 4 - Alarm clock goes off, but no vibe or sound?!

I had the same problem, my alarm suddenly one morning did not vibe as it always had; I actually use just the vibe to wake up, not the actual alarm sound.

Here's how i fixed it:

Open the clock app, and then open the alarm function and set your alarm.

WHILE IN THIS WINDOW, use the VOLUME buttons to lower the volume as far as possible, in other words hold down the "-" ( minus symbol ) button until the dotted bars go to the lowest level. ( one dot ) .

DON'T USE the "Silent" slider.

This restores the vibe alarm function.

What I DON'T know is what I did to knock out the function in the first place. But the above procedure fixed it.

So far I believe this is a randomly occuring phenomenon, so it might be that the time you tested it after having done this procedure, it just decided to work on its own. You might run into the problem again down the road. Either way, please do report back.

Indeed. What would be very useful to Apple engineers (if they even care) is a situation where you can reproduce the problem every time. So far it seems completely random.

Has anyone tried setting they phone's time backward to try to reproduce with the same alarm?

It's working fine now. One thing I forgot to mention is if you have a bunch of different alarm times in your list, delete them and reset them using the above procedure. I had about 10 alarm times lol I don't need THAT many!

It's possible that by messing any one of them up I defeated the vibe function on all of them ... but anyway, I've reset my main morning vibe alarm and it works fine now. Cheers.

Do you have sound effects turned off? The symptoms described occur when sound effects are off. It is not a bug.

Tried it. It worked. As hockie as it sounds, it works. I made sure the volume was up many times. It did nothing. I went the other direction. That solved it.

Checked that.

Sound effects not turned off.

Wiped the pod and reinstalled software fresh.

That solved the problem.

Were you able to duplicate the problem before?

In my case, the alarm had this malfunction one time. It's never happened before nor since and I haven't changed any sound effects settings or anything else.

a full reinstall is the only thing that worked for me

I will try the fix that Eric suggested for the next couple of mornings and report back. I'll clear my list of alarms, and set only one.

Do you do that procedure every time you turn your alarm on, or only the first time you set it up?

I was having the same problem on my school iPad and thought it was just broken, but after having this problem on my home iPad which is still on IOS 6 and I haven't updated it for a while now, I realised that there must be something I can so and it's or broken but I was just on the wrong setting!

So I went to Settings and there should be (depending on the software) a settings for the sound,

There should also be a slide under ringer and alerts, just slide that up!!
