How to convert MPEG-4 audio stream ringtone to a .M4R real ringtone?

I purchased what I thought were actual ringtones using my iPhone 4 and the iTunes store, $.99 each.

I open iTunes (ver. 10.2.1) on my iMac (ver. 10.6.6) and the ringtones are located in the Music Library. I right-click the item, select Get Info, Summary tab, and the Kind shows "MPEG-4 audio stream".

Some articles say for iTunes 10 to open GarageBand, then click and drag the ringtone from iTunes to GarageBand to create the actual ringtone. When I click and drag, it just releases back into iTunes.

I searched the iMac for any files that might be the ringtones in question, but didn't find any of them.

I suspect since they are audio streams I don't actually have a file to convert.

Is there a way to convert them to an actual .M4R ringtone or did I just loose $1.98?

I sent in a problem report to Apple last night, waiting on a reply.

Thanks in advance.

I got it figured out.

Somehow the purchased .m4a ringtone files were on another Mac I use (must of been when I was troubleshooting my problem).

I followed the steps in the following article and successfully got .m4r real ringtones in iTunes which I was then able to sync to the iPhone.
