How do I deregister my iPad if selling it

I am selling my iPad with the intent of buying the iPad 2. Can anyone advise what I need to do to clean up the iPad so that it contains no personal information and someone else can register it under their name (if I sell it). Do I just delete all the music and other items on it or is there a formal deregistration process?

Macbook Pro 13, iPhone 3g

Click on the Settings App, click on "General" in the left column, then click on "Reset" in the right column at the bottom. I've never done this but that seems to be the way it's done.

Settings... General... Reset... Erase All Content and Settings. I've done this a few times if I want to start with a clean iPad before restoring from the backup.

You can't.
iPads/iPods/iPhones are not authorized/deauthorized in iTunes.

Don't know how you did this because there has never been an option for it.
You can deauthorize your computer. (iTunes menu Store > Deauthorize). Having an iPhone or iPod connected does nothing.

Authorize/deauthorize is for the itunes program itself, not for any hardware connected.

Actually, it is specifically for the computer running iTunes. Not any iDevices.

Chris... You deauthorize the computer to iTunes not the devices. That is how I read it. Only five computers to an iTunes account. Many devices to a computer. A million if you wish.

So it is not enough to erase the content and settings (via General settings in iPad) I should also run a special program (iErase). How would I do that. I run the iErase program via the app and then use the erase function in the General settings in the iPad?
