MacKeeper/Zerobit Pop Up ad Problem

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to stop these MacKeeper/Zerobit pops from happening on my computer?

I've never used MacKeeper nor do I plan to ever use it now that this ad keeps popping up unwanted. What happens is I get this Mac "recommends" box that I have to click "Ok" for or completely quit Safari in order to get rid of it. Then there is this stupid ad for MacKeeper sitting there. I can seem to find anyway to get rid of it. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

ZeoBit told the San Jose Better Business Bureau that issues I had with its Mackeeper marketing popup was caused by problems with my computer, not its popup, and was unique to me and my computer. The BBB bought that response despite my telling the BBB that many users also have a problem with the Mackeeper popup. The BBB said ZeoBit resolved the issue with its response and closed the case. From the looks of this forum and other complaints posted about ZeoBit and the Mackeeper popups in other online forums, it doesn't appear I'm the only one with the problem.

If you have to uninstall Safari, as a last resort, or want to check to see if it has a problem, here is what I did because Safari can not just be removed by an uninstaller or thrown in the trash.

First open the terminal

Then type: codesign -vvv /Applications/Safari.app

This will tell you if Safari is running properly by saying:

/Applications/Safari.app: valid on disk

/Applications/Safari.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement

Next type: cd /Applications/

This brings you into the Applications directory, the next command deletes Safari itself:

sudo rm -rf Safari.app/

Sounds a little drastic. Has that been shown to work for anybody?

Well that's true, because the webkit framework is part of Safari and they have to be matched up....

First open the terminal

Then type: codesign -vvv /Applications/Safari.app

This will tell you if Safari is running properly

Actually, that only shows you that it is properly signed and reveals nothing about whether it's running properly.

Next type: cd /Applications/

This brings you into the Applications directory, the next command deletes Safari itself:

sudo rm -rf Safari.app/

OK, but that's no different than trashing the app. It still leaves the webkit framework behind. Why were you not able to remove the app by throwing it in the trash?
