Import song from GarageBand into iMovie on iPad.

Same here, so disappointing... defeats the idea of a mobile platform if you need to carry a laptop with you as well... Come on apple – fix this!

I figured it out. I made a song on my iPad 2, and I chose the "send to iTunes" option. Then I connected my iPad 2 to my PC (groans) and opened up the apps for GarageBand, to pull the song into my iTunes library. Then I synced the song back onto my iPad iTunes library. I opened iMovie, and the song was on the playlist on my iPad. I imported it onto my audio track for my little video. Hope that wasn't too confusing.

Lrigttlw... Please read the post more carefully. The problem is that you have to connect the iPad to another computer, pc or Mac, at all to access music files created in garage band when using iMovie. You should'nt need to use another computer to access files between apps on an iPad. Cmon apple make us a file system or allow garage band and all other apps to export and access files to/from user defined folders.

I find Apple amazing for everything the come up with, but then I can't really understand how they can miss out such basic daily needed features!

How am I supposed to do if I wanna do a soundtrack for a movie presentation and I'm travelling with my iPad only? That's the purpose I bought it for, isn't it?

I suspect we will gain this functionality with the release of iOS 5 and/or iCloud. But I agree, it would be nice to hear from Apple on this.

Seems that the yet to be released iMatch service for iCloud will address this. Because the song is not a purchase,you will have to pay 25 bucks a year to do this kind of thing...unless they change it.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how this wasn't built into iMovie or GarageBand in the first place. I do however know why it hasn't been fixed. It's because they don't think their customers need it. And with apple the customers are always wrong.
