Moved all content via Time Machine to a new Mac - Aperture library corrupt?

I recently purchased a new iMac and moved all of the content from my 3 year old iMac via Time Machine. It all worked flawlessly ... until I opened Aperture. Almost none of the photos have thumbnails, and most of the projects show no main image nor any images inside the project folder (just outlines and names of images, but not the real thing), and even when I open a photo there's nothing on the screen. Many of the Faces are blank as well.

Is it advisable to delete the library and re-import from iPhoto? Not sure how to do that safely - and I sure don't want this to screw around with the original pics in iPhoto.

Suggestions?

27" iMac (new as of 3/20/11), Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Whether you can delete the original Aperture library or not depends on how you imported from iPhoto. But if you re-importing from iPhoto now into the original Aperture library I'd say you copied rather then moved the files out of iPhoto.

Regardless, I would not recommend you delete anything until you are certain you have a running Aperture library with all your iPhoto images in ti and even then I'd suggest keeping the iPhoto library around.

Given that you have a brand new iMac I'd guess you have much empty disk space for the time being. That being the case you should just create a new empty Aperture library and import your iPhoto library into it. Once you're certain of whats where you can think about removing things.

To create a new empty Aperture library:
# quit Aperture
# hold down the option key while starting Aperture
# in the resulting Library HUD crete a new library

Ps And I still can't find the pic in pic thing weird, any chance you could post a screen shot?

I had a similar problem. I found this in one of the discussions. The magic seems to be in the Option (Alt) button together with "Reconnect All"

So, it appears *the actual problem is that all of the images in my library have become offline*. I've since attempted to use File > Locate Referenced Files... to reconnect to the files on my hard disk. This proved quite difficult as the "Reconnect" and "Reconnect All" buttons were always greyed out, regardless of what was selected. However, by chance I discovered the magic combo of the Option button, which through various passes allowed me to reconnect to the images once again.
