10.6.7 Freezes when attempting to run iTunes 10.2.1

I have just updated to 10.6.7 all Apps (e.g. Mail, Safari, Parallels) tried so far work fine except iTunes. Every time I run iTunes 10.2.1 I get as far as the window displaying correctly then within 20secs the machine freezes and is unresponsive to anything other than a forced shutdown via the power button. I have fixed disk permissions with the same result.

Anyone else experiencing the same? Any suggestions as to a fix?

This is the text that displays in Software Update for this update:

"This update addresses an issue that makes the system unresponsive when using iTunes. It is recommended for all 13" MacBook Air (Late 2010) users running Mac OS X v10.6.7."

So yes, it looks like MacBook Air 13" only. It has worked on mine so far, knock on wood.

Nice work, Apple, that was quick. Thanks!

It is not just the MacBook Air, my MacBook Pro late 2009 also Freezes in many programs, Safari, Itune, IWorks, my little beach ball just spins and spins then the program come back after about a minute of spinning. I have tried everything to fix the problem. I have bought many utility programs such as Disk Worrior, IDfrag, Clean my Mac and the lastest MacKeeper. It is not just me my family and friends have the same problem. Did not have this problem until I upgraded the Mac OS X 10.6.6 was when the problem started and 10.6.7 did not solve the problem.

I've been poring over all comments related to the update/itunes issue, and although I've tried everything with no success, I installed the MBA update without testing itunes since (I wanted to finish reading jic something popped after the update release).

While reading, eduaed999's suggestion about the dock icon delete/add struck a chord, and i was immediately transported back to a similarly heinous bug in my mac love affair, which was resolved with the (lamely) simple dock delete/add. Whether or not it works this time though, it's joining troubleshooting repertoire.

Stay tuned...after trying all other suggestions, I downloaded the MBA update AND have done the dock delete/add trick, so hopefully the problem will be resolved permanently. After posting this I'll do the dirty!

I'm not as technical as all of you however, so I'm curious if there's a way to monitor the process? To know which of these two methods actually took? (that is if they do...)

Being less experienced I really appreciate the respectful environment this forum has, and I look forward to any responses or suggestions!

I've got a macbook pro 2010. itunes and igetter crash since i've updated to Mac OS X 10.6.7. I tried the disk repair tool, fixed the permissions and checked the drive. It had no effect. I installed the combo update then I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes the way Apple explains it on their support site. No effect. I checked for viruses. No way. I googled and only found a fix for macbook air I installed but no change...

It's been a week now my itunes doesn't work so I can't synchronize my iphone and this is very annoying...

Any clue, someone ?
