App Store crashing immediately on launch

Hi,

Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the Caches folder then the com.apple.appstore folder. Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

From the same Library folder open the Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.appstore.plist and the com.apple.storeagent.plist files to the Trash.

Now open the Cookies folder from the same LIbrary folder. Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.

Restart your Mac. Try launching the app store.

If that doesn't help, try the suggestion by sgginc on this thread regarding Safe Boot.

Hi All,

I also have the issue with the App Store crashes after applying 10.6.7 I even tried the full combo update

The issue seems to relate to the CIsco VPN client as if it is not connected App Store loads fine but if i am on the VPN it crashes out

Any Ideas?

I have the exact same issue with Cisco VPN. No problem as long as I don't run it. Clearly, there is some sort of conflict between the two. Maybe there will be an update.

I have the very same problem: App Store crash while online using a Cisco VPN client. Combo Update didn't solve the problem.

Same problem for me, but using a Juniper Networks VPN client. Once I shut the VPN down, the App Store launches normally.

Same issue here. I tried upgrading the Cisco VPN to the latest version (0180 => 0280) and it made no difference. Still crashes immediately on start up.

I have this problem. MacBook Air 11" 2010 model, App Store crashes immediately upon load if Cisco VPN is connected to my office network.

I am also having the exact same problem: App store crashing if Cisco VPNClient is running.

Just logging that I'm experiencing the same issue - App Store quits unexpectedly if I'm running the Cisco VPN client.

On a related Mac Store App hanging topic, somebody came up with:

"I had the same problem and fixed it by turning off the "Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP)" / "Certificate Revocation List (CRL)" checking in the Preferences of the Keychain Access Application (in /Application/Utilities). Apparently the certificate checking takes too long which makes the Mac App Store unresponsive for this period."

The easiest way to get to Keychain Access is to use spotlight and than select it's preferences, than select certificates tab.

I hadn't been out to the Mac App Store for quite a while and could not get it open this evening. It would hang at launch and removing all the suggested plist and cookie files in this and other articles was no help. I remembered that I had turned on OCSB/CRL in Keychain Access a few days ago at the suggestion of another article I read. Turning them back off fixed my App Store problem so I wanted to let the community know that that seems to be the way to go.

I also encounter a crash when Juniper's Network Connect is running and I launch the app store.
