iTunes keeps "Accessing iTunes Store" for no reason
Hi, lately iTunes has been coming up with the "Accessing iTunes Store" loading bar for no discernable reason to me. I'm not trying to open anything in the store, I don't have any continuing downloads, it is just "accessing". I can still use the store; I just downloaded an album then. But this loading bar is really frustrating as it stops me from using the software for a second or two. It comes up every 5-20 seconds when I use iTunes, so it's very intrusive. Is this maybe a bug within the new iTunes software that I just downloaded?
I have the exact same problem! I tried to "repair" iTunes, but that didn't work. I did a virus search on my laptop too, but I don't have any viruses.
I have an anti-virus program, but that has been there all along, and I only started having this problem a week or so ago. It's very annoying, because that bar that says "accessing iTunes store" comes up like every other second! Even when I'm not in the store, but only playing music.
Would be very grateful if anyone could help me with this. I almost can't use iTunes anymore, because of that "accessing iTunes" thing popping up basically all the time now..
Yeah i am exactly the same as you Ollena. It's made iTunes basically unusable for me at the moment, all I can do is struggle to get one song to play and have it in a good playlist so I don't have to skip through, otherwise it would be waaaay too frustrating to even bother trying to use it.
pippy1992, I agree. I can't use iTunes anymore because of this! It wouldn't have been so bad if it only popped up once in a while, but it pops up every other second, so it makes it impossible to use iTunes.
I have tried everything too.. I tried to repair it, but it didn't work. I tried to download iTunes again, but that didn't work either. I did a virus search on my laptop, but I don't have any viruses.. I even checked the proxy settings, and they seem ok too. I am using an anti-virus software, but I have been using it all along and this problem started about a week ago after I downloaded the new iTunes version. And before you say anything, yes.. my internet connection does work. So what am I supposed to do? I have basically tried everything!
I really hope someone can help me with this so I am able to use iTunes again.
Ugh I can't take itunes no more, they give us an updated one for what to have troubles with it,It don't make no sence please apple give us a hand and fix this problem, the sooner the better.
After much tinkering around while having the same problem with my iTunes, i finally figured out how to make it stop... just go to edit, preferences, then Parental Controls and check the iTunes store box, once that is checked then check the "allow access to iTunes U box.... you should be good to go from here on out..
Open iTunes - go to the top bar, click the 'Store' drop down menu >
Then click 'De-authorise this Computer' >
Enter your password etc >
Then click 'Store' again then click 'Re-authorise this Computer'>
Enter password etc>
Restart the computer ( I only restarted itunes but try restarting whole computer if that doesn't work)
Hope this helps!!
I tried Sandaddict26's solution and so far it seems to have worked! I followed the instructions, which made it strangely open up iTunes U page in the Store; however not letting me go to anything else in the store. I then turned off the Parental controls of the iTunes Store, and it's gone back to normal! I didn't try your idea dirtrider6591 because it was going to take more time than Sandaddicts, but thank you for putting up your solution. 🙂

I second this! This worked perfectly for me, I did it exactly like this. Thanks to both pippy1992 and Sandaddict26 for the help:)
I tried dirtrider6591's solution first, but strangely, that did not work for me. I didn't try to restart my computer though.. I decided to try out the other option instead, since it seemed easier, and that worked! Anyway.. I would just give a warning if you try to re-authorize the computer, I think you lose one of the authorizations, and you only have 5! At least I did, and now I only have 1 left! Just a little warning if you try this solution..
I tried both solutions suggested. The Parental preference put me right back where I was when I switched it back off again (and, of course, made iTunes no good to me while on). The one suggested by dirtrider6591 worked great. Didn't even have to restart the computer, just the iTunes application.
I tried Sandaddict26's ingenious solution and I was able to successfully get one Itunes free song. Then I was right back to where I started: blank screen after a few seconds.
Apple probably won't give a response about this issue. I'm surprised that nobody else has uncovered this other issue: computer sometimes being flooded with connections from mzstatic.com. When I first started having this trouble with Itunes store screens going blank, I noticed strange new connections in addition to the ones from itunes, apple, and phobos. Mzstatic sometimes floods my computer with literally dozens of connections--the most simultaneous connections I've counted is 37!
The IP address range for mzstatic is 209.18.32.0 to 209.18.47.255 and this domain is registered to Apple. The company behind these new connections is, I think, MarkMonitor {www.markmonitor.com), a company involved with computer security and data protection. It's possible that Apple has enlisted Markmonitor to help protect against theft of iTunes products but could these extra connections be disrupting our iTunes store connections?
Hopefully more computer-savvy people will investigate these somewhat suspicious looking new internet connections through Itunes.
Guess I'll try the computer reauthorization approach next....
I also tried Sandaddict's answer and iTunes appears to be working as normal again. Just turned off the parental controls straight away again.
Apple should get onto this ASAP though, it was infuriating. Interestingly it didn't occur on my sister's MacBook so whether it is when you download the new version..
This worked perfectly. Right after upgrading to the 10.2.1.1 this happened. Apparently my system wasn't authorized even thought I was signed into the store and have bought music on this build before. I went to store and authorized this system.
