I'm having the same problem. I bought the mobee inductive charger. At night when the computer indicates 15% or so battery life, I charge all night, only to wake with 15% battery life. Turning the mouse off and back on again, the battery life jumps to 100%.
Looks like toggling the power on the mouse does in fact reset the battery life indicator in Lion. I also noticed this same issue with my home iMac running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) - had charged the mouse all night and was still getting warning that battery was low until I removed and reinstalled the battery. After which the battery level indicated 100%.
Lion 10.7.1 and nothing changed...
I receive the message "Low Battery" just few seconds before the magic mouse stop working because of the battery.
Found a great little menubar app to show battery percentage. Even if I have to turn my mouse and keyboard off and on every morning to know where they are on battery life. Here is the link.
Yhank you for your link chesleyn, but I'm sure that some Apple engineer can fix this little stupid bug.
Do we have to downgrade to 10.6.6 to have a proper battery level indicator? :-)
This bug is back again in Mac OS X 10.7.4
Very distressing. The magic mouse battery indicator was at 100% even after using for a month, and suddenly yesterday I got a low battery warning for my magic mouse, then it suddenly died.
I do hope Apple fix this bug with the next release...
The quality of software and hardware from Apple is dropping sharply... Very disappointed with Apple...
