I've tried the suggestion that you've posted and surprisingly enough...it actually works! for the time being that is. I hope the problem dosn't appear every now and then, but what you suggested was helpful thanks a lot!

When you have data switched ON, and you're NOT on 3G, then whenever there is data traffic on your device, your iPhone is actually not available.
That's not completely true, is it? I.e. it's true that over EDGE, one can't maintain a voice and data connection at the same time, but isn't the iPhone supposed to pause the data connection and take the call?
The solution is Rubn a backup on your device and resotore back. It works perfectly well.
i am facing a similar problem with my new iphone 5s. Whenever i have kept the 3G ON in the network setting and turn the WIFI ON, from the very next moment I am not able to make or receive a call. It shows call failed. On turning off the WIFI and then restarting the phone I can make calls. BUt as soon as I again turn on the wifi the problem is persistent.
please help!!
I realise that most of these posts were a while ago but now my iPhone 5s is also not receiving calls - they go to voicemail immediately and leave me with a Missed Call message on my screen. I have turned the phone off and on; I do not have Do Not Disturb activated and I've reset the Network Settings, all to no avail. Can anyone suggest what might be causing this please?
I too am experiencing this problem & on both Iphone3 & Iphone4 - Both connected to 3.
Anyone know if swapping sims to & from a router would somehow be to blame?
