2011 macbook pro slow and freezes alot

I have had this Mac for about two weeks, I noticed it was running slow so i compared it to my Dell (5year old Inspiron $700) loading the same pages over the same internet connections the Mac is at least 5 or 10 seconds slower than the Dell, It will freeze and give me the rainbow spinny wheel doing SIMPLE SIMPLE multitasking, my iphone4 even loads pages faster using 3G internet. AND IT IS NOT THE INTERNET it freezes and slows at home and at my campus

this being my first Mac and spending almost $1300 total i am extremely UNimpressed by its performance and will likely return it, the sad part is i waited patiently for the 2011 model to come out

Only positives i can give it is its weight, slim design, battery life, everything else is terrible not just disappointing but TERRIBLE I have already advised several people to not buy one

Same problems here

1)The first issue I had was itunes updating, then after my whole library was gone. I restored my music thankfully, but the update continues to pop up.

2)That however is the least of my worries.

I am also having a problem similar to this:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread...art=0&tstart=0

My screen blacks out for brief periods, sporadically; an only on one user account (not admin)

3)My biggest problem is with virtual dj and itunes. When playing music in the background, and surfing or transferring data, the songs skip (or "go digital")

It happens when doing something else (I can make it happen)

I thought this was a quad core w/virtual 8?

4)Also, file transfers seem to take an awful long time (at times)

5)And safari seems terribly flawed...it seems unstable.

Most times it just freezes with the beach ball.

Also when editing a message board forum, after saving, the text gets posted amongst code (HTML?)

6)My external keyboard (apple) loses connectivity now and again. I think it happens when I push caps lock. replugging in usb fixes it.

7)apps "quit unexpectedly" quite a bit as of late. I send reports to apple.

8) my "today" files suddenly only had 1 file in it (7:22pm) Had been using it all day and files were showing up from the day. (clock is correct)

"yesterday" files were just a few apps I had used today AND yest.

Finally "past week" had my files from today in it, along with the past week.

Tried everything in this thread. Tried taking it to genius bar, it was busy, they gave me the spin.

I am posting links to this on my sites and forums I frequent to bring attention asap.

The more people speak up...

Hopefully most aren't experiencing this...

i had same issue with my late 2011 macbook pro. it freezes a lot, i had mac before and it was the best machine i ever had. i then decide to change the hdd to a seagate hybrid hdd and upgraded to 8 gb ram, it now works flawlessly. i also did a fresh install.

hopefully this may help some people experiencing a slow mac and freezing.

Hi Yozzaa, I'm glad that solution worked for you. I guess I will have to do the same. I'm just upset that in order to resolve this problem, I have to replace my harddrive on a machine that is less than a year old. It's kinda sad that my wife's 04' ibook runs better. I've performed a clean install and still the same results.
