I purchased the camera and tried to upload to my mac. I was able to get the file onto my desktop but its in a weird format that won't let me upload it into imovie or anything else. I have a player that can play it but can't do much other than watch the clip... any help? this has really annoyed me I have been working on this for a few hours now lol
HELP! I've tried all the suggestions I've seen here and nothing. I have the power plugged in, I've tried plugging in the usb and them starting Imovie, starting Imovie and plugging in the camera. IMovie says that there is no camera there. When I plug the usb into the camera it shows a selection of memory, the selections are: ALL (for PC only), Mem Card A, Mem Card B, Built-in Mem. Since I dont have any cards in the camers, I choose Built-in Mem and I get a message that says USB Connection, Do not disconnect the power source. Do not disconnect the USB cable unless you first use the computer to safely end the connection.
It then brings up IPhoto.
Any Ideas?
Thanks
Same exact thing happens to me. I always get this issue. Even more odd, I have imported from the camera before using the USB into iMovie, but now its not working. Its a real hassle since this is supposed to be easy.
What is even weirder is that the Canon's flash drives mount onto the desktop as you woud expect. iPhoto sees it. Lion sees it. iMovie, doesn't see it. :-(
I have had alot of the same issues that you are all posting but recently it is working perfectly on Imovie. I just slid in the SD card and nothing happens, but if I go to imovie and go to file and import from camera it reads the SD card right away and all my movies are there. Not sure what has changed for this to work properly now so I hope this little information helps you out. Simply searching for the file manually on the finder will not help you in anyway. Some reason the files are hidden. Good luck everyone!
Thanks for the help, here's what I have finally figured out!
Connect the power cord and USB cable to the camera
Turn the camera on, it will ask you from where you want to download (card or internal memory), select where your video is on the camera (Since I don't have any cards in my camera I selected the built-in memory)
THEN open Imovie and either select the little camera icon (middle of the page, left center), or download from camera in drop down menus at the top of the page.
I have downloaded 2 videos this way and it worked GREAT!
Hope this helps!
