Apple LED Cinema Display Black Screen When Connected to New MBP Thunerbolt

My early 2011 MacBook Pro, 15"-2.3GHz-4GB-750GB/5400RPM-OS X 10.6.7, causes my external 24" Apple LED Cinema Display to flash/blink/go black and eventually skew (splice and rearrange with noise, visual not audible) the image on the external display when connected via the Thunderbolt port.

I had a late 2008 MBP 15" which I used the external display, again an Apple LED Cinema Display, with and never had such an issue.

I have checked through this forum as well as other non-Apple forums and found this, or a variation of this issue, many times, though no solution.

I have called Apple support and have gone through their hoops, command reset (the whole turn off computer, shift ctrlopt then push power btn, cmd+r then push power on, while holding cmd+r hold opt+p until computer chimes twice), trying the monitor with another computer, ensuring I have the latest updates, etc., and nothing has worked.

Has anyone had any success with addressing this issue? If Apple is reading, and I hope you are, could you please address this issue?

I live and work in Prague, Czech Republic, though work for a US company out of Burlingame, California. Therefore I get all my Apple products from the Apple store in Burlingame. When I need to repair something I try to wait for one of my twice-a-year trips to Burlingame, though having just returned from a trip to the US with my new MBP I can't imagine my putting up with this issue until my next trip in the autumn.

For us core Apple users/customers/followers/addicts I would hope Apple would take this issue seriously and resolve it as opposed to telling me I'm the first one who has reported it to Apple when I called the APP hotline. Then they walk me through the basic steps I do on my own anyway, since Apple always seems to have issues with its products. Talk about a glutton for punishment!

Same problem here. MBP 2011 and 24" LED Cinema display. The display will flicker a few times before going black. I will unplug the cord from the monitor, plug it back in, and it will usually come back on. Sometimes it will do this at least 5 times in a span of 3 minutes. When unplugging the monitor doesn't work, I just have to power off the computer. I HATE THIS. Please fix it!!!

Yep, same issues here. We've recently bought 2 27" Thunderbolt displays to work with Mac Minis (2.5GHz i5) and BOTH displays are playing up. One blacks out randomly while being used, the only way to revive it being to disconnect the TB plug and reinsert it. This has happened a couple of times a week since we got it. The other has blacked out once or twice, but also suffers from the skew/noise the OP mentioned. It happens every now and then when dragging & dropping a file - momentary white noise across the screen while dragging files.

I REALLY don't want to take the displays back because we don't have suitabkle replacements, which means downtime.

Come on Cooky, get the elves on the job please!
