Subscriptions on Multiple iPads

I can't get a straight answer to this.

My wife and I both have iPads, and we share an iTunes account on both, so that we can share the apps we buy and for ease of data transfer.

I bought a one-year subscription to "The Daily" - which worked fine for a few days after I paid for it. Then, I went to the other iPad, downloaded the app (with the same iTunes account as the first one), launched it, and it asked for my iTunes password. I entered it, and it proceeded to load the current issue.

However. The next day, when I launch the app, I get a message that it "cannot connect to the iTunes Store" - but when I dismiss that dialog, it loads the current issue. On the other iPad (the one I originally paid for the subscription on), I now get the dialog box with the standard offer to pay for the subscription, and no current issues are being downloaded.

There is no indication in the App Store that a subscription is good on only one device. Even if it were, can I pay for two subscriptions from the same iTunes account, or will that cause some kind of logic fault that might invalidate both subscriptions?

If anyone knows where I can find the answer to this, or even to pose the question, I'd be very appreciative.

Thanks!

The only problem with your newspaper analogy is the one section of the paper can only be read by one persons at a time unless the other person is looking over you shoulder. Just share the one iPd with the subscription, that is more like a newspaper.

The license agreement for The Daily includes:
"2. Restrictions. This Agreement does not allow you to use the Licensed Application on any iPad device that you do not own or control, and you may not distribute or make the Licensed Application available over a network where it could be used by multiple devices at the same time."

To me clearly says it can only be used on one device.

Thanks, lllaass. I'm actually okay with paying for each iPad -- at $80 a year, it still only about 1/5 what I pay for a print subscription to the Washington Post.
But I can't get an answer to the rest of my question. My wife and I share an iTunes account ID among the two iPads (and our iPhones). Can I order up two subscriptions for two different iPads using the same iTunes account ID? I asked this twice on The Daily's support page, and once to iTunes Store support email, and now here. I still don't have any answer on this.

Finally, an authoritative answer from The Daily support people:

--------------------
Thank you for contacting The Daily.

Multiple devices linked to the same iTunes account can provide access to the same subscription to The Daily. Unfortunately there is a known issue with Apple's subscription program that is preventing some users from doing this. We will be releasing an update in the coming days that will correct this issue. We apologize for the convenience and thank you for your patience.

Best,
The Daily
