iOS 4
I submitted a bug report to Apple on this issue as we were seeing it on 3 different iPad2's all connected to Exchange 2007. They sent me a diagnostic tool to install which was simply to gather logs to send to Apple. After installing the tool however the issue disappeared from my iPad2. This was not expected as the tool was merely to gather logs when the calendar invitation event happened. I am still waiting on our other users to agree to use the tool (these are personal devices on corporate exchange and the tool sends all data to Apple). I would recommend anyone else experiencing this issue to submit a bug report to Apple so they can determine a fix. It definitely is a code issue with the iPad2. To submit a bug report go to http://radar.apple.com and register for a free developer account. It took them about a week to respond to me but it would probably be faster than waiting for them to respond in the forums.
Hi all,
Has anyone gotten any constructive feedback from Apple regarding this issue or found an independant solution?
Also, I can confirm the theory of the divisibility by 1024...
Thanks.
I too am stuggling with this issue, my iPad now reports over a BILLION invitations - I will post a screenshot next time it pops up. What is odd is that it never goes down - even if I accept the genuine invitations (of which there were 5 at the moment it reported a billion).
As someone previously mentioned - these can't possibly be genuine unaccepted invitations because my exchange mailbox is only 100mb, not a chance to get a billion invites in there. They also do not appear to be actually 'stored' anywhere on the iPad because a true meeting invitation would be at least 1kb and a billion kilobytes is 1000 Gigabytes - way more than the capacity of the device.
So these are truly phantom - just the notifications getting way out of hand, I can't see any real pattern in the way they increase, at first I thought it was exponential or square or a multiple of the real invitations, but it's not that consistent, it just seems to randomly jump up.
They are just an annoyance right now, but if this goes on and on, surely it is going to overflow something eventually and cause a major error??
Has anyone tried deleting past events in Exchange? I never archive when outlook asks me. Maybe I should try that. Thoughts?
Nothing new to report I'm afraid. Apple support at it's best. Just ping'd them again yesterday.
To answer one of the questions posed in a previous reply, Apple doesn't use Exchange for their mail server. They use some sort of custom IMAP solution. May help explain the pace at which Exchange integration issues appear to get addressed. Just saying.
I logged into Outlook 2007 and found that I had a folder in my mail tree called "Sync Issues" or something similar. Inside were eight sync problems AND an old Outlook calendar invite dated April from another user. Since deleting all these messages in the sync issues folder I haven't had this alerts. No idea why the iPhone didn't display them. I'll continue to monitor whether I get multiple alerts and update everyone in this thread. I'm not 100% convinced this issue is dead. Also, if I do get multiple alerts, I'll first check if Outlook reports Sync problems again. I had sync problems from April through today.
I'm getting the errors constantly, as is someone who has only been with the company a few months. Neither of us have any sync issues listed.
I admit there are days it FEELS like I have millions of meetings to attend. Maybe the iPad feels my pain?
Please IGNORE my last post. Deleting the sync issues did NOT resolve this problem. ðŸ˜
How do you access this diagnostic tool? I'm having the same problem and like others have said it is an iPad 2 issue as the iPhone does not display this problem. Getting annoying!
The diagnostic was sent to me from Apple after I created a bug report. I suggest anyone else willing to do so create a free developer account here: http://developer.apple.com/programs/register/ and then submit a bug report here: http://radar.apple.com. The more bug reports they get the better the chances that a fix will be included in a future iOS update.
Just FYI, I have been using iOS5 beta 1 for a few days now and have not had this issue. No doubt the new notification system will fix. Not sure just how much work they will put into this error but at least for now it appears iOS 5 will fix.
That's good. I think I might just wait for iOS 5. Until then I'll just feel very in demand.
I was thinking it MIGHT be a function of having recurring appointments on my calendar. Perhap the iPad is extending them into the future forever. That would explain the fact that the number continues to get bigger over time.
Same problem here.
iPad 2 running 4.3.3. Did not upgrade from an iPad 1.
Not happening on 3GS.
I know my company uses an Exchange 2010 server.
Filed a bug.
