How do I disable auto-caps on MacBook Pro 10.6.6

*I hate autocaps!* When I want a cap, I'll hit the shift key.
Autocaps runs system wide on my MacBookPro5,4. It's a nightmare for passwords. I never know when it's giving me a cap or not. Also, in things like the terminal it will cap a command that can't be cap'd, like "ftp - Open."
If I decide to edit a sentence I get "This."
Autocaps causes me so many more keystrokes than it would ever save!

I just don't want it and I've searched high and low and there is no preference or control for it anywhere.

Also, I have friends with MacBooks who don't see this behavior on their machine!

I searched as well and found nothing. Are you sure you don't have any third-party software installed that might explain that behavior? Check the "Login Items" list of the Accounts panel of System Preferences.

I really don't think it's a 3d party software doing this. It's done it since day one - right out of the box.

Also, the guest account does it as well.

I'll try starting with everything off and see it that helps.

Mac OS X does not auto-capitalize across applications.

If you're seeing it in Terminal, among other applications, there must be third party software on your machine that's doing it.

It was TypeIt4Me. I've been using it on my desktop for years but I guess I didn't notice a new option in the new version. "Capitalize new sentence" was the option.

I'm so happy to get rid of that!
