Remove Admin Rights

I recently bought a Mac and set up my daughter as the default account. Now I realize I should have set up an Admin account and then set my daughter up as a regular user so I can use parental controls. I set up am Admin account for me but can't seem to remove my daughter's Admin rights through the usual account settings. Any advice? Maybe there's some tricky way to do this using the root account?

If all that fails, is there an easy way to copy all her stuff intact into a newly created account?

Yes, I appreciate it can be done from a standard account, but as you say, it does require the presence of an admin account.

Incidentally, although I can't assess the veracity of the posts, we have had a couple of instances of posters claiming to have removed the sole admin account, thus locking them out of installing anything.

Hmm, wasn't grayed out for me while logged into my own account. But one way or the other should do the trick.

When you tried from your own account, was your daughter's account logged out? You can't change her account if it is still logged in via Fast User Switching.

For interest only, I assume that for some reason you can't include the "root" account as the sole admin account...?

All users should log out. Then the real admin should log in and remove the other admin.
