seagate or western digital?

bout to pull the trigger on a 750gb 7200 rpm drive for my new 13" i7. Not concerned about the price difference, just want to hear from people who have had experiences with these two drives. Looking for reliable, quiet, cool, efficient, etc and there are good / bad reviews for both, and instances where either have had defects / failures.

I've narrowed it down to these options (unless there's another brand offering the same that I haven't yet found);

Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s

Hi to all i'm new to community but not with mac..I have an imac 27 i5..After 2 failures with stock seagate and repairing it with paragon and seagate tools i decided to overhaul it and make a clone to a new western digital.

With seagate 1tb i had noises and heat more than normal and somertimes machine was so slow. especially in windows xp OS. Before i buy western digital i overhaul it again and put a flash drive 2.5" 250gb..ok...that was good!!! Extremely peace...and the disc was heating from the machine not the opposite...but the capasity was so little..i'm waithing for 1tb flashdrive which exists but is very expencive..they told me about 5000e...

Now i;m ready to fit a brand new western digital 1tb cloned.will see..i just wanted to share that with you.

From others with same pc i heard that is far better than seagate.but i have to see it with my own.thank you

Hello i wanted to update this post of mine so i have some interesting infos for those who maybe have problems with hard drive or limited capacity.

i tested 3 hard drives in my iMac..

1) WD blue chaviar 1tb 64mb cache

2) SSD SUNDISC 256gb

And the Seagate Momentus XT HSSD Hubrid.

The best of all was the ssd but with limited capacity 😟

But you must consider the momentus..after some benchmarks i did is very close to ssd and with 750cb capacity🙂 Running very very cool and silent.

Not any problems.

seagate or western digital?
