You may not have noticed it but it was there, with the default {name}from{location} info filled in.
Hosts: It might be a good idea to have no default pre-entered since so many users don't seem to notice this.
I too find this perstupidity. Especially with the unification of Apple ID. Now it is worse.
Apple, c'mon! Make it so we can change our username or at least delete the Apple Support Communities login.
You could probably just make a new account with a preferred userid and stop using the old one. All points will be reset to zero but since you don't seem to have points it wouldn't matter.
I don't know how this would relate to MobileMe - I don't have that.
With the advent of Apple ID it is no longer possible to do this. I called an Apple Rep and she admitted that it was something that needed to brought to their attention as a suggestion.
Try it. Try to make a new account with your Apple ID. It only refers you to your current account. Basically your nickname has become bonded to you Apple ID making it impossible for US to change it. And Apple says that it can't do it. Limbo answer.
I have my preferred ID, but it is not linked to my preferred email, which is a MobileMe email. Which is what begat the attempt to change that ID so that it could be free'd to be be used by my preferred email. A MobileMe email is it's own ID and can never be linked to an existing Apple ID. Period. I think that should be fixed because I don't think their is any real benefit, purpose or valid logic behind that fact, it is simply the way it is. And it apparantly isn't something that Apple sees as a problem. Until they do see it as a problem (even a customer relations/satisfaction issue) it isn't going to be fixed
Has anyone had luck changing their username here? Mine is just a bunch of jiberrish.
Yes, it would be great to change it as mine applies only to the first question I posted and is now obsolete since I upgraded my phone to a 4S.
Since the iPhone 5 is now available it appears not to be obsolete.
