Lyrics not showing are just one of many many bugs in the new music player on iPad.
I don't think it's a bug. I think it was intentionally designed this way.
Looks like lyrics can be included as part of iTunes Match
The manual for iPad/iOS5 mentions lyrics display, which points to a bug as opposed to an intentional ommission. Either way, it's a mistake that requires fixing.
And from what I've heard iTunes Match does not include lyrics, hopefully that will get added before public release.
Well, there's another thing about the Music app, but I'm not sure if it's a bug or a wrong decision... The colors of the buttons that indicate "states" like shuffle and repeat are the same (or very alike) being it turned off or on. Sometimes you can't tell if it's on or off, and it really ****** one off. In other topics there are people speaking of other things...
Upgraded to IOS 5.0.1 today but still not fixed the problem of no lyrics displayed. I use the Ipad for backing tracks and luckily I have the Ipad 1 with ios 4.3.5. Apple need to address this as I am sure that there are plenty like me using it for the same purpose. We live in hope
Well, I must say I found an EXCELLENT app that works until Apple gets a more permanent answer - Check it out here: http://nikolozi.com/apps/LyricsView/
Yes, it does display lyrics in IOS 5.x and works with iPad AND iPhone if needed.
That looks nice, but doesn't help me read lyrics on my Mac (I have iTunes displayed on my 2nd monitor).
I see that there's an iPhone app and an iPad app. I have an iPad an iPhone and an iPod. I mainly listen to my iPod next to my bed on my radio while I read at night - and on my Mac.
What's the difference between the two apps, would I need to buy both?
Well, the primary problem for new iPad users was that the lyrics display vanished, yet this app restores that function. This was/is a big problem for iPad users.
Also, there isn't a difference that I can see. The link on the app store is: http://search.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZContentLink.woa/wa/link?path=apps%2f LyricsView
You're right. That irritated me too. I do have a third party iTunes add on that used to display lyrics on my iTunes, but that broke when we went to 64 bit.
Still, I will probably buy one version of "Lyrics view". But which one?
The version I have is with iPad support, and is version 1.1 - I don't even see 2 different ones, but again, my main concern was to have it display lyrics in iPad. I have an iPhone 4s, and lyrics display there anyway without this app...
I just bought the iPad version and noticed it installed on my iPhone. I haven't tried it out yet though.
Well, I'm not paying 99cents for an app to display lyrics. Apple will (i hope) one day fix the fact that lyrics aren't showing up. Until then, I'll save a pdf file of album lyrics that I need and open it up in goodreader while listening to the album. If it were free I'd downlaod it, but it's not worth the dollar imo.
It's all in what our need is. I'm a musician who depends heavily on lyrics that are embedded in the songs, as well as time displayed, so to be honest I would have easily paid 20.00 for an app like this as it was that important. If a person just wants to see what the lyrics are for curiosity sake, you're right... I'm sure it wouldn't be worth it.
Quite bad idea from Apple to delete lyrics in Music app.
I too would like it back.
Music app on ipad absoluteley bad, can't even go back to the song that's playing when I have searched for something else.
There is another educational/accessibility aspect to this. I am learning Italian and our Italian teacher uses music of various sorts to illustrate tenses, vocabulary etc. I've managed to get the lyrics for these tracks from the web, added them in iTunes on my Mac, and can view them fine on my iPhone. I find this a useful learning aid. A woman in my class is partially deaf, and has difficulty in hearing music (I imagine she lip reads, so she is OK in class) and was keen to get this going on her iPad. I assumed it would work fine until I checked on my wife's iPad 1 updated as far as it will go. No deal. So, even if Apple didn't anticipate this sort of use for the lyrics display, it should think hard before dropping the feature. (I'll give them feedback.)
