Wireless mouse for Ipad

Can I use Apple's wireless mouse on the Ipad 2? I have connected my wireless bluetooth keyboard to my Ipad. I am not too sure whether Apple's wireless mouse can also be connected to the Ipad 2 as this will empower me to use the Ipad as a mini laptop.

I agree. I have Citrix on my ipad for my job and trying to stab at the email or open a folder is excrutiating. It would be great if a mouse was an option for programs like this, because I need to scroll through windows apps and modify documents via Citrix and a mouse would be a **** of a lot easier rather than zooming in and out of items and dragging folders to places I don't want them to go

According to this post, if you're using Citrix Receiver, you can use an iPod Touch as a trackpad for Citrix Receiver.

Face it, why would Apple change when it has millions of followers who gladly subscribe to a philosophy that includes "Apple knows what is best for me?"

No, Apple has decided that the iPad has a specific use case and it doesn't matter what prospective users want.

I agree with the feeling it would be wonderful to be able to take a tablet on a business trip and not have to lug my laptop around through airports and convention halls, but would still like to get some real work done from the hotel desk at night.

Like one poster suggested, I was reading the forums BEFORE I purchased an iPad and I am glad I did. It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be a better fit for what I want out of a device. I can get the features I want, and Apple (nor it's devout users) will need to pollute their ideal of what the use case is for their beloved iPad.

It is more a case of Apple created what Apple wanted to create. Apple wanted to create a device with a touch screen interface, not a mouse driven interface. By all means, if that is not what you are interested in, a touch screen interface, then yes, buy another product. Apple has a history of introducing innovative interfaces to the world; the mouse, touch and multitouch gestures and now voice, by way of Siri.

I posted on this forum a month or two ago, and am one of those users that would like the ability to use a mouse sometimes in a couple of applications on my pad. Why limit it, right??? Not interested in using a mouse all the time, but on certain apps think it would be awesome. I used an iPad last week that had been JailBroke, and had a Magc Mouse & Keyboard on it. Let me warn you, it does not work much better than your finger or stylus. Since the iOS was not designed for use of a mouse, simply adding a Pointer to access things doesn't give you the abilties you'd expect from having a mouse.

Someone posted earlier that the reason there is no mouse support is to not hurt sales of the Mac Book Air, and they're probably right. I love my iPad, and am very happy with all the things it does, however planning to buy an Droid Based Pad to accomplish things at work that the iPad can't do. Don't see how that helps Apple...

Don't see how that helps Apple...

But it certainly does not hurt Apple. Apple is the second most valuable company on the planet. Apple is doing fine. Apple could care less about all the folks who stop by here to threaten that they are going to buy something else because...

If someone needs to buy a different product, Apple wants them to buy a different product. It is that simple. Apple is not looking to sell to everyone and does not need everyone for Apple to be a success. There are plenty of folks that like Apple's products as they are and who are buying the products by the millions.

Dah.veed,

I appreciate your response and appreciate Apples products. It is true that even though some responders to the forum seem not to have active imaginations, one could love the iPad yet desire additional functionality.

For me, the need is such that I can't get the device I would otherwise prefer, the iPad. I believe the original poster feels the same way, that for them the iPad would be that much more perfect if it supported a pointing device. That's all. No slight intended.

That some feel the need to mock the poster for desiring something they can't comprehend is not a reflection on the iPad or Apple, rather it is just a symptom of their own insecurities.

Thank you Dav.veed for bringing civility and reason back to the conversation.

And you know that there are means to acomplish what you want. Doing so can cause you issues though, one being voiding your Apple warranty. But if your iPad is a year old it no longer has a warranty unless you bought the extended warranty. I fully expect that with the care that I give my Apple products that my iPad will outlive the addition functionality Apple may be willing to extend my way. At that point I am fully prepared to enter the ranks of those who open their iOS device to further enhancement without Apple's assistance. I will not recommend that others do it here in this forum and I am not willing to point them to any information to take such steps, but the information is out there and easy to find! 😉

Time to put this "turkey" thread to rest. Mouse support isn't going to happen for the iPad. I will settle for some left, right, up and down arrow keys on the virtual keyboard. They work when I BT my Apple keyboard to my iPad. I realize the virtual keyboard is cramped. How about making the "Z, X, C and V" dual purpose keys, switched with a Fn key. The left Up arrow could "switch hit" as a Fn key.

I am not sure why you are responding to me.

Time to put this "turkey" thread to rest.

Why? Because you are the man to do it? This is a conversation. Apple has no need to clamp it down, and certainly does not need you to do it.

Mouse support isn't going to happen for the iPad.

Actually, mouse support did happen. Just not by Apple and without Apple's support.

Feb 12, 2012 2:50 PM in response to Dah•veed

From your post I assume you jail broke your iPad. So, good for you. I was only pointing out that mouse support isn't going to happen from Apple no matter how much verbiage is posted here. Why would they want to steal sales from their MBAs? So go ahead and post away another 50 pages or so in this thread. It's just fluff in ether land.

I see that this thread has been around a while. It's a shame that with the very first reply it degenerated into the typical condescension that anonymity seems to nourish. I would not want to carry a mouse around with my iPad2, but I have large fingers that often make the touch screen interface difficult for me. Yes, I know that I can spread my fingers and make the screen larger, but then I reduce the area of my work that is visible. In the case of this field I can only see twelve words per line. If I had a device that many would refer to as a mouse, it would enable me to manipulate an "Insertion Point" free of the problems introduced by my large finger. Having made that the point that the size of my fingers makes the touch screen interface of the iPad a challenge to use, I simply accept the fact that, though very well designed, my iPad is fairly limited in its usefulness. When I need something that is far less limited I turn to my notebook computer, my desktop computer, or even my Lenovo Thinkpad which has a USB port and supports a mouse.
