ipad 2
Why would anyone want to use a Mouse with an iPad?..... There are people (my husband for example) who have had a stroke and are left with physical deficiencies as well as cognitive issues.😕 Yes I am hoping to find a mouse for an iPad. Is there such an animal? 🙂
No, the iPad doesn't support a mouse : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
There is some info about accessibility, which might or might be helpful, on this page : http://www.apple.com/accessibility/ipad
I am so tired of this argument. If the Ipad were just used by people to watch movies or shuffle around some photos you are right, a mouse would not be necessary, but I use it and carry it everywhere and it has replaced my laptop for the most part. Word processing, graphics spreadsheet and I Need A Mouse. When my Ipad is propped up on an angle and I am typing with a bluetooth keyboard and I have to keep trying to reach over to "touch" the screen it is annoyimg and not user friendly. Mark my words, sooner or later the IPad purists will lose and there will be a mouse and cursor. No i dont need one if I am reading or surfing the internet but other times I do. So it should be available.
That device already exists. It is called a laptop.
oped01 - Most everyone in the discussion agrees with you and wish there was the functionality of the mouse. According to Dah-veed the iPad should only be used to watch YouTube videos even though the App Store sells document apps, spread sheet apps, etc. I would guess that as many tablets are being sold today more and more people will want full functionality out of their tablet, moving away from laptops. It'll be up to Apple if they want to have a device that will provide all the features or if they want to keep making the "iKindle". Good luck to you all
You trolls crack me up with your comedy routines. iPad sales runs circles around all the other tablets combined. Your predictions of the iPad's demise for such stupid reasons are not even close to reality. The iPad is doing so poorly Apple just introduced a new one that has the online and phone line sales streams bogged down with preorders. Yes, Apple will be sooooo sorry that it does not listen to the trolls, it will truely be sorry. Sorry all the way to the bank.
I thought you'd like that Dah-veed, but think you've missed the whole point of the discussion. The discussion is about the iPad and how it could be better, not Apple's world wide sales. I think we all love their products, I have iPod, iPhone, iPad, and MB Pro - and love them all, we simply think the iPad could be better if it provided support for a mouse. You are correct about one thing, until it begins to affect sales they probably won't do a thing. Devices like the $200 Nokia Windows 8 Tablets are out soon, folks that want the abilty of being able to work with a Tablet will begin going with devices like that, I'd rather use my iPad.
Bump.
I love it how people give their opinion upon how useful the request is to them. Then ignore the request. Was this a question of opinion on the usefulness of a blue tooth mouse? Or a how to question? If someone wants a feature there is no harm in making the change and allowing each person to enable or disable that feature as the individual see fit. At least Google is smart enough to let the customer base decide.
@ edoru I just sent a feature request in for this as well. I guess it will take a bunch of requests to get what we want.
It is a touch screen device. It is a touch screen operating system. Apple will never give you a mouse, no matter how many folks demand one. A mousy iOS device is not what Apple wants to make. You should buy the device that does what you want from someone else if it exists because Apple is never going to make what you want.
Meh...Just like they would not give me screen output when I asked for it on the ipad one right? Oh wait we have screen output now. So never say never.
Sometimes what you want is already in the making, especially when it doesn't fly in the face of the logic of the iOS. There is nothing about screen output that fights or contradicts the OS. A mouse does.
I need a mouse as a remote controller when I present my keynotes.

I need to win the lottery but I don't see either of these things happening.
A mouse will not work with the iPad.
