Wireless mouse for Ipad

Can I use Apple's wireless mouse on the Ipad 2? I have connected my wireless bluetooth keyboard to my Ipad. I am not too sure whether Apple's wireless mouse can also be connected to the Ipad 2 as this will empower me to use the Ipad as a mini laptop.

True, but do we really want to shell out $200 (or more) for the "trackpad" hardware? I'd rather the bluetooth trackpad be useable for $69. Maybe even a Bamboo pen tablet for the iPad would be useful ($99), as it is similar to a touch screen. Not everyone has an iPod Touch or iPhone handy.

Personally, I don't really want a mouse or a pointer device. My fingers do well. However, I do need a scroller for teleprompters that would work for the iPad. Again, I know there are apps for the iPod Touch and iPhone, but again, why can't there be something cheaper than those solutions? It's a bit of an overkill hack, if you ask me.

Hey All,

I tried to do the mouse thing today and have a work around for CITRIX users that requires no non-approved loop hole.

It only works for the work at home person though who also own a iMac Desktop (Not sure about any other computers and their blue tooth capability): (Maybe someone can reply to this who tries using PC or other means).

1.) Download splashtop or other remote desk top to your computer and to your iPad. (I used Splashtop)

2) Bring your mouse and keyboard from desktop to wherever you are (living room, kitchen, etc.) and the signal from your desktop should be strong enough to stay connected while using your remote desktop.

NOTE: Splashtop will automatically format your iPad screen for best view... I think their is a place that you can tell it what you want but you don't have to worry about it as long as you didn't have any windows active on your desktop already running...otherwise it will be HUGE on the iPad.

I am free from my black hole office! YAY! Running my iTunes on AppleTV - life is good!

PS - Not sure if anyone made this comment yet but I am proud and feel like I figured something out! HA HA.

I can think of many situations where a using a mouse would benefit an iPad or iPhone user, most of which involve using a fingertip to locate or modify a small object on the screen. Trackballs, trackpads and mice all bring precision and accuracy to the user interface which a finger does not. Fingers are neither transparent nor precise. This is why stylii are also used. This is partularly true with high resolution displays. The Magnifying Glass is one way to improve the user experience. Having an off screen area to drive a cursor works very well. This was a core part of the Macintosh experience and what drove the invention of the mouse. That bit of usability and functionality hasn't changed. (This may be a subject where I won't miss Steve's infuence.) I vote for full interoperability between all Apple peripheral devices and platforms. Apple has always been about ease of use - being able to use your mouse or trackpad with your iPad or iPhone would merely be an extension of that principle IMHO.

I think mouse support on a tablet is needed for many business users to get the most out of their device. I have had iPad and now iPad 2. I love my iPad for personal use but it's not great for business use. I plan to get an Asus Transformer with Dock that provides mouse support and a track pad. This is the best solution for tablet PC right now to emulate laptop/desktop systems. Using the combination of Transformer and Remote desktop app like LogMeIn I do not have to carry a laptop around. The iPad falls short on this usage. As many has stated here Apple users and Apple lovers just want to use Apple products for all their needs, but we are limited. I love my iPhone, Ipad2, and MB Pro but now am forced to go another route.

I don't buy that Apple does not care who buys what. With that philosophy it's a great way to lose market share. Steve Jobs had a philosophy to make what people wanted and to stay ahead of the competition on all facets of hardware, software, and user interface. Innovation and creativity is what propelled Apple to the top and mouse support on a tablet is one of the innovations that will be demanded in the near future from business users and a handful of personal users.

Apple stay on top of the game! Is all we wish for.
