ITunes won't run on W7 - The colour scheme has been changed

I have been installing and uninstalling iTunes for sometime now and have even tried to change the theme but I keep getting the same message.

I've gone back 14 pages on this part of the forum and haven't come across a similar thread so apologies if anyone has already asked and if you can point me in the correct direction.

I have an iPod and iPhone that need to be updated as I've had this problem for around 6 months now since getting a new laptop.

The hardware is a Packard Bell 64bit running Windows7

Many thanks. Changing Quicktime Preferences to safe mode in Advanced worked perfectly for me too. My screen kept blinking every minute with the above message and forcing iTunes to the foreground no matter what I was doing. I've no idea how you worked that out but I'm very grateful you did. Cheers.

the changing from DirectX to safe Mode (GDI only) in quicktime worked for me as well. in fact i had itunes and didnt even have quicktime so i had to download it THEN change that setting. as soon as i did, bam, no more reverting to windows 7 basic. weird, but thanks for the solution!

Changing the video option to GDI worked for me too. thanks for the tip!
