Final Cut Pro X

I guess that as Apple has told the world about FCP 10 then (basic) questions can be asked....

1) Do you still need to (officially) transcode into Quicktime? or will it handle say DVCPro HD natively?
2) Is there upgrade pricing or does everyone pay $299 regardless
3) A video I saw had the presenter refer to FCP 10... if I'm using the latest which is 7 where did 8 & 9 go?
Cheers

Really?

Is this concrete? Or even hinted anywhere? I've thought about this for some time now, especially as Apple has continued to renew (and even apply for brand new) patents for Shake since its death (or so I've read).

This excites me far more than words can do justice!

Let's hope Motion is heading for something equally as ground shake-ing . . .

For all those who are saying that the new FCPX isn't gonna be pro enough or that it feels like something is going to missing . . I heard this same thing in the Media Composer group when v5.0 came out and now v5.5 and here's all I'll say to that:

"When a pro app gets easier to use and starts to have the look and feel of automated consumer style editing but yet still not only has all the pro features, bells, and whistles . . rather than get jealous becasue more and more people will be able to now enjoy this powerful software, get excited because the amateurs turning pro and/or want pro features, you have a new opportunity . . teacher." I agree, that's where all the info seems to be pointing. So long as the programs still exist (and continuously move in the right direction) I couldn't care less where the install files come from tbh. I haven't read the paper manual to any software in years, digital manuals and forums are easier and instantly searchable. Could be a logical move.

Here's hoping for a Shake/Motion merge. I'd be fascinated to see a dual UI embracing both layer and nodal work flows.
