Final Cut Pro X

I guess that as Apple has told the world about FCP 10 then (basic) questions can be asked....

1) Do you still need to (officially) transcode into Quicktime? or will it handle say DVCPro HD natively?
2) Is there upgrade pricing or does everyone pay $299 regardless
3) A video I saw had the presenter refer to FCP 10... if I'm using the latest which is 7 where did 8 & 9 go?
Cheers

What no serial number? FCPX will be download glory for the pirates!

If this is true it may not be such a bad thing for Apple.

It will increase the user-base of FCP X which is an excellent form of advertising, resulting in hoardes of envious PC users having to buy Mac computers.

So whilst Apple might have reduced profits on the software it will make a killing on computer sales.

I don't see a lot of copies of iWork, iLife, Apertuer, etc, being pirated now. DVD's are much easier to make dmg's of and pirate. Having purchased software via the App Store, and experimenting out of curiosity, It's not so easy. There's code buiried that ties the install into your App Store/iTunes account. I can't find it. But, I'm sure eventually someone will. All those bootleg copies of App Store software and iTunes movies all over the place already and all that... not.

The app store is not a simple download of an app, it actually is compiling files during download and embedding your Apple ID into the software, matching it to your registered machine ID's. Very difficult to defeat. Much more than DVDs. So unless you purposfully give someone your Apple ID for piracy purposes, well...
