Look out AVID!! It looks like I'll be able to make great slides shows and home movies with this "upgraded" product. No more precision editing or prefect keyframing. I can just guess at it.

If you viewed the presentation, you'll see that there was a keyframe editor. And what do you mean, "No more precision editing"? He showed it to you.

Keyframing in FCP is abysmal. Let's see you lasso a set of keyframes and move them all—in unison—backwards or forwards in time. The keyframe manipulation in the current FCP is a joke.

i don't think avid has too much to worry about until FCP has the ability to do live editing. until then avid will always have its niche.

agreed!! I'd like them to release FCP 8 and add the 64 bit interface. Leave imovie for the consumers.

live editing? how does that even exist? it's live, or it's edited.

My worry about this new FCPX is that it will be like QTX vs QT7Pro.

QTX has a nice clean interface, some nice features like screen recording. However, it's limited in it's functionality, especially in its ability to export. This means I have to keep QT7Pro around to do most of the actual work, so now I have two applications that are supposed to perform the same functions.

So my worry is I'll have two versions of the same applications just so I can have what I need to edit a video. Now of course, there's not much information out there yet, so I'll definitely be looking forward for more information and hold my final judgment until I'm able to get my hands on it.

This product is an imovie upgrade simple as that.

Time to land on planet earth. Apple is not going release FCP 8. Avid has a deal going on right now for FCP users. $999 for Media Composer 5.5, I think you'll be much happier.

i could have sworn that avid had support for live tracks in the timeline and that was why all the tv stations use it for editing but i guess i may have been confused about that.

It is going to have features I've been hoping for (especially since I've been getting a lot more HDSLR video in lately,) and I'm looking forward to seeing how the workflow is.
