You can take calgarystar's advice and don't do anything but rant, or you can try it and see. The choice is yours. This individual has never posted a useful comment or a solution that anyone has "liked" or marked as solved. Maybe there's a message somewhere in there.
I just realise that i never discharge the phone totally to 0% and charge it to 100%. This could be the issue?
According to Apple's battery support notes you should do this peridically, like once a month. Some people have reported that it solved their problem, others that it has not.
well my iPhone4 I had since February. It's overheating takes 2 hours to charge. Sometimes it takes 40minutes to drain the battery sometime more. I have been trying everything but still nothing has worked. It seems to reject the charge coz the charger gets just as hot as my phone like 45degC it's not normal!
But it has nothing to do with software. You need to get your iPhone serviced as soon as possible.
Not to kick a dead horse, but wanted to say I've read through the entire thread (twice) and have found Lawerence's comments to be nothing but thoughtful and constructive. Alas, I'm a bittersweet owner of an iPhone 4 iOS 4.3.2 and still haven't cracked the phantom battery drain issue. Still trying...
The best fix is sending lawrence flowers for all his hard work that leads to no real resolve and when your done your contract to go out and buy an Anariod way more things you can do and less issues 🙂.. Well Lawrence can eat his apple a day and suck up and be the greatest Apple fan boy ever.. Maybe Steve jobs will hire you.. in the PR department!
Since I had saved SHSH blobs with Tiny Umbrella, I went ahead and rolled back the iOS to 4.2.1 and this really did the trick. Battery life came back to at least 2 days on standby mode. I've been testing it for 6 days now and it's absolutely game changing. Downside is that I lost hotspot capabilities. If anyone is interested in learning how to do this, you can PM me.
yeah fine to do that if you want to violate the terms and warranty on the phone.. some of us still have phones under warranty and the issue is never addressed just ignored because a small percentage have the issues .. i get only 7 hours usage out of mine at the very best.. yet its advertised to have 10 hrs and 2 days of stand by yea i lucky if i get a day stand by
