MacBook, iPhone OS 3.1.2, Car Bluetooth
I have this problem with a new Fiat 500X and it's driving me insane.
For me it's the fact that I need to connect to the USB to keep the phone charged and to access my music/playlists if I want. Every time I connect the phone it autoplays, it's always the same song, and you can't quickly cancel it because I have to wait for the cars audio system to display the obligatory warning.
I find it hard to believe that such a simple thing can't be quickly dealt with by either the car manufacturer or Apple. I've been searching online for solutions and have even come across lots of people having the same frustrating experience.
This totally worked for me! Thank you so much!!!
It drove me crazy that I couldn't use the Apple Map app on my iPhone without having iTunes music playing at the same time. Sometimes, in heavy traffic, ALL I want to do is listen to the turn-by-turn audio directions. I tried unchecking all of the iTunes music on my iPhone but then the Map app had no audio. It was clear that when I plugged in my iPhone 6 via Lightning USB to my 2015 Nissan Sentra radio-CD, some kind of iTunes musical audio file had to autoplay or the Map app would not produce any audio directions.
After driving a rental car in Lubbock, Texas this weekend and grousing about my inability to listen only to the Map app audio directions when I wanted, I had an idea. I went into the iTunes store and, after a little searching, found and purchased for 99 cents a wonderful song titled simply "Silent Song." It's 10 seconds of silence but it is indeed a song. Now when I connect my iPhone it autoplays silence! Even though I have music on my iPhone, all of it is unchecked except for Silent Song. That is OK with me because I usually listen to an Internet music service anyway.
Was there ever a fix for this? Just got a new Jeep Grand Cherokee with uConnect 8.4 and every time I plug my iPhone in via USB to charge, it starts playing my music on my iPhone and I have to change it back to Radio. Wish Chrysler/Jeep would implement CarPlay already!
I too have this problem with my Pioneer DEH-4600BT stereo in my car.
I plug in my iPhone to charge and use maps every morning - and every day it plays the same song at me.
It's driving me nuts!
I'd love it if Apple had an update for this - or even a reply to say that this is a stereo manufacturer problem..
This is radio specific, my Sony MEXN5000BT does it and drives me nuts, sony has no fix. My jenson does not do it, my daughters head unit does. *** cant someone fix this, we shouldn't have to lower the volume before entering the car and go through so much work.!
So what happens to me is my car plays the same top song every time, I came up with a little work around for this if you are in the same category and its been working so far.
For me it is playing the stop SONG alphabeticall. So for me the song was adidas. To workaround this I created a new song with dead air for 3 min then uploaded it with the title Aa. Now when the autoplay kicks in, it plays that and I'm happier than ever until I play what I want : ) just use any simple software out there to create the file.
i Hope this works for some of you at least.
i Would still like apply to fix this as it is really annoying.
cheers
I have provided feedback to Apple and have removed the application from my phone. So long Music App! Apple needs to understand this is a nuisance and safety issue. No other phone manufacturer does this.
YES, the same thing happens to me. First thing, iTunes only likes to download the first song of every album on my phone, so I've stopped trying to put any music on my phone at all. The last time my phone broke (the GPS stopped working and it was conveniently not covered by my phone insurance), I started my phone from scratch-- re-downloading only the apps I needed and not adding any music.
When I get in the car, random songs that I do not own and did not download will play. Last week it was a song by Ludacris. This week, an entire CD by a band called SLOAN plays.
This is ridiculous and way to "that scene from Minority Report with the tunnels ads" for me.
Thank you so much! I had no idea that I could delete the music app! I will also have to delete my pandora ap since it also autoplays when I plug my phone in from time to time, but that is so much better than having to listen to it BLARE when i start my car! I listen to Sirius anyway.
Delete your Music app all together. I haven't listened to my iTunes music in months (I use Spotify and SoundCloud) and hearing the same song auto play over and over and over was killing me.
Typical Apple lack of quality programming. A high school programming class developing such a poor product would earn a "C", only because it runs.
Change the source in your car. I had same problem with my iPhone and CarPlay. I changed the source from CarPlay to Other Apps in the car and the problem went away. I can now connect my iPhone and the music won't start automatically when I start the car.
