Installed iOS 4.3.2 now apps won't open - anyone else?

Hi, as per topic I installed OS 4.3.2 last night and since then I am unable to open any of my apps which I've downloaded.
They open, but the screen returns to the home screen. When I look at my open applications I can see that they're open, but I can't access them.
Standard Apple apps (mail, messages, safari, maps) open and work fine.

Anyone else have this problem and/or know how I can fix it?

I fixed the problem as explained ahead.

Preface:

iPhone size: 16 GB

I noticed that after upgrading to the latest software update, I could not open any app at all. Syching or re-installing apps did not help at all.

I found that, the iphone was not synching completely as the size of data (music + apps + photos etc) in my iTunes software was more than my iPhone size - you can find this out by clicking on your iPhone after connecting to your computer.

How I fixed the issue:

1. Connect iPhone to computer. Chose option not to synch music.

2. Syched all the apps and other data such as photos

3. Removed the iPhone connection from the computer. Ensured that I can open the apps now - all done and
working fine

4. Re-connect the iPhone to the computer. Manually select the music albums songs etc. Be careful not to exceed the limit of your iPhone storage.

I hope it helps.

Thanks.

Regards

Prasad

Just to add something interesting here. I have apps from 2 Apple accounts on my iPhone 4 - a personal account and a work one. If I have the "Store" Setting signed in as my personal account, quite often the work apps will not start, with the symptom described above. They start to "zoom out" as normal and then instantly stop and go back to the home screen. If I sogn out of the Store account and sign in again with my work account details, the apps still do not start. If I them "buy" a free app using the work account, those work apps will start as normal and will work fine.

This presumably means that my phone is checking in with Apple using the signed in account or that the phone is refusing to start apps because it doesn't think they belong to me. This is a bit ridiculous in my opinion, because both log ins are valid and AFAIK it's perfectly permissible to have apps from 2 accounts on the same phone. Do I REALLY have to buy a free app every few days just to use the apps I already own???

Does no one else find it frustrating and riduclulous that you have to delte an app and download it again before the apps you have paid for will work? I don't understand why this is happening. I don't WANT to use up my download quota downloading apps I already have installed. Yes it makes the apps start working again but they shouldn't stop working in the first place!! Apple this is disappointing and you need to sort it out please.

As various people have stated in both this thread, and many others, Apple is not on the discussion boards, just fellow users. If you're dissapointed with something you can go too the Contact Us page and leave feedback, or call the support line and leave a complaint.

Also; has anyone thought it's not always the iOS update, but the actual Apps causing the issue? It could be Apps themselves not updating correctly, so a manual update by delete and re-download is needed.

I've had this issue myself following multiple updates, and in all cases it's generally been because the app didn't connect too the server at just the right time.

P.S. We're on iOS 5 now, why are we even still posting in this thread??

Because hilariously it's still a problem in iOS 5.

If you look back you'll see that many of us tried deleting and re-installing the apps - some of which are Apple apps. When the issue happens, several apps display the behaviour. Typically in my case ALL of the iWork. iLife derived apps, Shareplus and a couple of other work apps but NONE of the apps I have purchasd on the other iTunes account on my phone. Apple staff do read the forums, they just don't respond to them. I think we're all just hoping that someone, somewhere has some insight as to why this is happening. Yes, there's a work-around, but come on, this is just plain irritating.
