Garageband and Eleven Rack?

Hi all,

Could anybody please shed any light on what seems to be a technical issue, namely that I can't get Garageband to recognise my new Eleven rack.

Now I know that they can work together. But it won't work on this iMac, and I'm not sure how to work through finding out why. Here's what I've tried so far:

1. installing just the Core Audio component, as recommended in the instructions. I tried using the one on the disk and a later version from the Avid site. Neither worked.

2. Checking that everything in the chain is reasonably current - right through to updating the Eleven firmware from 1.02 to the latest 1.03. So I have Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.7 and Garageband 11 (version 6.0.2). I even downloaded a 2gig update for Protools LE from 8.03 to to 8.05 which installs Core Audio files as recent as last month. Still no show.

3. Running the signal out of the phones jack on the Eleven and into my old Yamaha Audiogram USB interface. Garageband had no trouble seeing the old setup and it could hear the signal. So that's a workaround, but it's pretty clumsy and I'm not sure whether it might throw up other issues in use.

4. I also tried taking the Eleven to another iMac that I use elsewhere. That runs the older Leopard OS and Garageband 09. Now that worked straight away. The Eleven rack came up as an input option, exactly as one would hope, and it worked when selected.

Avid claim that the Eleven works with Snow Leopard - and indeed it does, and I have no trouble with using ProTools. In fact I'm enjoying working through ProTools and getting to know it. But I still have this stubborn desire to find out why it doesn't want to work with GB on my music computer.

It appears likely to be a straight out mismatch between new versions that haven't quite caught up with each other yet. But who do you ask if they're even working on it? I can't find anything relevant at sites or forums for either Apple, Garageband or Avid/Digitech.

Does anybody have any clues as to what it might be or where I might look for an answer?

Thanks

Chris

BTW, the rack has lived up to my hopes - a terrific piece of kit.

If you are successfully running Garageband 11 with an Eleven rack, on any version of Snow Leopard could you please post your version of the OS?

I noticed that some of the Avid stuff had been tested up to OSX 10.6.6 whereas I'm running 10.6.7. So maybe there's an issue there?

Thanks for any input,

Chris
