Power Mac G4 sleep problem

Hello!

My G4 (mdd) won't go to sleep anymore. Neither on its own via energy saver nor when you press the power button or select sleep in the apple menu. Does anyone know what to do?
I already unplugged my USB devices, didn't help. Then I trashed my energy saver and bluetooth preferences and reset PRAM by pressing <command option+PR> at startup, no luck. I read all the previous posts about this issue and did everything they said, but it didn't help.
maybe someone has an additional suggestion.

Thank you!

David

Hello!

I have a quick question which is related to this thread. I was having a problem with my G4 sleeping, which I sort of solved. I have a new USB2 card in my box with an iPod mini dock plugged into it. When the iPod is physically in the dock (mounted or not), the box won't sleep properly and basically locks up. The problem goes away when the iPod isn't in the dock.

So... Since it seems pretty clear that this is the problem, is there anything I can do to "fix" the situation so that my box will sleep with the iPod in it's dock?

Thanks,

Michael

It's the same problem I have. When any device connected to the USB PCI card is drawing power (ie: charging iPod) the Mac tower can't properly go to sleep. I have to remove my iPod from the dock before initiating sleep or the tower hangs.

The PCI card doesn't support sleep when it's giving out power to devices, it's a common problem I've seen.
